Guest guest
Hi everyone I dont oftenwrite in but I do read all the mails. I take methotrexate orally but also need an effective antiinflammatory drug as my joints swell quite badly. A few months ago I was taken off Vioxx because of the health risks and was given Iberobrufen Retard. It is not as good as Vioxx was but does help. Now on our local news they have announced that these can cause cardiac arrest. Im at a complete loss because my doctor says he doesnt know what else to prescribe as I have tried a number of meds which didnt suit me. I must add he is not a very sympathetic man. I wonder if anyone can make any suggestions about these drugs I would be extremely grateful. (If you know of any other drug I can use) Thank you and regards to everyone --------------------------------- Messenger NEW - crystal clear PC to PCcalling worldwide with voicemail
Guest guest
Hi, There are many pain meds but some of them are addicting so they don't get prescribed. However, did your MD mention Darvocet. It is like Tylenol but stronger. Or have you tried Tylenol? It is not like Vioxx though. Of course, if Vioxx worked best for you, it will be hard to find it's substitute. I was not able to tolerate Vioxx. But what about Celebrex or Toradol. Ask your doctor about these and also ask him how does he feel about you taking Darvocet? Also, what helps me is herbal green tea (decaf). It isn't as good as Vioxx but it helps to relieve the pain naturally for me. Hopefully, you will get a lot of more responses. Those are the only ones I can think of. Hope this helps. Take care. Ebony > Hi everyone > > I dont oftenwrite in but I do read all the mails. Guest guest
I was prescribe Mobic by my base doctor after they took Celebrex, Vioxx, and Bextra out of the pharmacies on base. I was told it had been around for years - lots of years. I don't have any problem with it but only take it when my joints start aching so bad I almost want to scream. Good luck and God bless, Althea

Guest guest
There are a number of different NSAIDs (anti-inflammatories) on the market. Your doctor should let you try different ones until you find the one with the most bang for the buck. Every person has a unique reaction to drugs, so what is best for me (naproxen) does absolutely nothing for someone else. That said, it generally takes a couple of MONTHS for a given NSAID to reach it's peak performance, so be prepared to give each different NSAID adequate time before writing it off. Here is a list I copied from another site: " Some NSAIDs are currently available over the counter at pharmacies. The other NSAIDs listed below require a prescription from your doctor (U.S.). Common OTC names include: ibuprofen (Advil®) naproxen (Aleve® or Naprosyn®) aspirin (Bayer®) Rx (prescription) names include: celecoxib --Celebrex® diclofenac -- Voltaren® etodolac --Lodine® fenoprofen -- Nalfon® indomethacin -- Indocin® ketoprofen - Orudis®, Oruvail® ketoralac --Toradol® oxaprozin -- Daypro® nabumetone -- Relafen® sulindac -- Clinoril® tolmetin -- Tolectin® rofecoxib -- Vioxx® "

Guest guest
ine, When they took Bextra off the market, my rheumy switched me to Celebrex. It doesn't help as much as the Bextra did, but it does help. We have to weigh the benefits and the risks and then make a decision about what meds to take. All meds have risks. But living with constant pain is not a viable option, either, at least for me. Sue On Thursday, June 16, 2005, at 08:36 AM, pauline Gwynne wrote: > > I dont oftenwrite in but I do read all the mails. Guest guest
Hi ine, I've tried so many different anti-inflammatory meds, and they are so hard on my stomach. I am suppose to take 3xLodine a day, but can't do it. Maybe your doctor could give you some samples, until you can find one that works for you.
