Guest guest
Daphne Thanks for the reply. I need all the anecdotal infomation I can get. The main component of evening primrose oil is: Cis-Linoleic Acid according to what I have here. You might as well ask your doctor about it the next visit. Guest guest
Hi All Does this seem reasonable: evening primrose oil 2600 mg a day EPA 1080 mg a day DHA 720 mg a day plus 600 I.U. vitamin E as dl-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate I'm hoping to resolve the " fat " matter at least this week. Guest guest
Sue, or anyone can respond to this: The products below contain NO flaxseed or soy far as I know. I'm looking at a old Solgar catalog and going to assume that everything is the same still. {As you can see, the products' name doesn't have much to do with the amount in a softgel.} Super GLA Softgels 300mg (contents of 1 softgel) linoleic acid 498 mg GLA (from Borage oil) 300 mg oleic acid 206 mg MaxEPA Softgels 1000mg (contents of 1 softgel) EPA 180 mg (from fish oil) DHA 120 mg (from fish oil) vitamin E 2 I.U. Someone recommended 1 capsule for every 10 pounds of body weight as a rule of thumb. But all capsules are different sizes depending on the manufacturer. Also who know the ratios? Should GLA be 66.666% of the total? 50%? 75%... Then what, EPA & DHA split the difference? > Its a combination of fish, flax and borage. Its a total of 5 capsules. It is just listed as cold water fish. I also take 2 capsules of salmon oil (the best fish) 1000 mg each. > > Sue
Guest guest
> Sue (or anyone can respond) According to lef.org this is what they recommend per day: GLA 1425 mg EPA 2880 mg DHA 1920 mg Is this within the ballpark of what is generally considered the right amounts for a 120 pound woman that has MS? Perhaps a slight decrease would be nessessary. Anne might be even less than 115, which is somewhat below the average weight of a woman. Szpak > > > > Its a combination of fish, flax and borage. Guest guest
> For my own information, could you please let me know what Lef.org says about the amounts. I think you sent them before but I deleted them (Im good at that). Thankyou. > > Sue Sue {{{As a last resort you could read the messages off the yahoo site. You probably knew that already though.}}} The information below is from lef.org. They mention 8 capsules a day of EPA and 5 capsules of GLA. Unfortunately they don't even make EPA (I guess). Within the stars is their e-mail to me. ************************************************** We make the Mega Epa 360 mg/Dha 240 mg (item number 625). We don't make a Mega EPA but we do provided them from a company by the name of Source Natural, it is a Mega EPA 1200 mg 30 soft gels (item 04004). *************************************************** So...I took product number #625 and computed the EPA nad DHA totals for 8 capsules(Product #625 is Mega EPA/DHA). Be advised, the amounts on the website are for 2 softgels. I took product number #218 Mega GLA and computed for 5 capsules to get the GLA amount. Be advised, the amounts on the website are for 1 softgel. I got the figures below, and e-mailed them to lef.org and asked if these vaules are good for a person with MS to take. They haven't gotten back to me yet. (IF ANYONE WANTS TO COMMENT ON THE VAULES IMMEDIATELY BELOW NOW'S THE TIME. THANKS.)
