Guest guest
Will certainly be keeping you in our prayers. Have you applied for Social Security Disability? Jim was denied the first time, but reapplied and was accepted. That led to the option of medicare after a waiting period. While we opted only for the hospitalization part (since he is covered on my health plan), both part a & b were offered. It seems that there are always additional health problems that may or may not be related to PSC. Jim has found considerable help with allergy (i.e., food allergies especially) issues by going to a Naturopathic MD. He has also gone (about a year ago now) to a Acupuncturist who was absolutely convinced that the root cause of his disease was his teeth. He had been going to the dentist for his regular six month cleanings since forever. We changed to a dentist who does amalgam free dentistry and she was mortified at the shape of Jim's teeth. He had a wisdom tooth that had such a big hole in it she couldn't believe he wasn't in any pain. He has been going to the dentist ever since. He's having to have major work done. Each body chemistry system is different, but this makes some sense as our mouths carry a huge amount of bacteria. One other thing that he recently began doing is to drink 1/4 - 1/2 cup of aloe vera juice. He thinks it actually helps him to feel better. He just finished a one quart bottle. It's Lily of the Desert 99.7% certified organic aloe. He says it tastes pretty yucky so he doesn't take more than he can swallow at one time. It might be worth exploring. One of the papers we have on our bulletin board is in the form of a letter to Jim. It reads: Jim, Trust Me. I have everything under control. Love, Jesus. It brings peace when things seem so out of control. Kathy (Jim '91 PSC)
