My afib was discovered by accident--never had any symptoms and was in it for 6 mos. The amio did not convert me. I checked it on the internet and for some reason, didn't surface much negative info. Then I developed lung probs, blood sugar probs (now gone), and thyroid probs. Was told I had asthma! Now, I have learned all that might have been caused by the amiodarone. Just great! This is such a crapshoot. I was hospitalized at one point with the " asthma " (which I am now told was not asthma, but vocal cord dysfunction) and the cardiologist later told me he wasn't sure at the time whether I was coming out alive. Bottom line: Amiodarone, many docs say, should be the last resort, not the first. Lawrence
