Guest guest
My son, Noah (7 months) was going to have to have a CT scan done also. I was told they would sedate him through an IV so that he would be calm and still. As far as I know, using an IV is the only way to sedate them. He's had an IV before, which was a horrible experience, so I was glad when a different doctor told me that the CT scan was unecessary because he could tell externally that the bones had not fused together prematurely. =) --- In Plagiocephaly , " " <manda_pandas@y...> wrote: > My daughter (12 months) will be going for a CT scan. Guest guest
My son had a CT scan at 12 months also. The sedation is usually given orally, not through an IV. The scan itself only takes a few minutes. One tip is that you should have a drink ready for her when she wakes up as her intake will be limited before the scan. Guest guest
When my oldest daughter was 10 months old, she had to be sedated for an x-ray for her feet. I hated it! The took her in and she had to have an IV. She also had to have a breathing tube and other things to keep a close eye on her. We were told that young children need all this because they could stop breathing when " knocked out " . It was so hard for us. We couldn't go in with her, so it was just a waiting game. I couldn't wait till she came out...and recovery was hard, because she was upset, and her throat hurt from the tube. Take something with you to keep your mind off of it, if that's even possible. Take care!
Guest guest
Thanks for your replies. I hope that it is only oral. She screamed through the xrays we had done, and it took 3 of us holding her still to get them done. Has anyone's kids actually turned out to have a closed suture? It sounds like this is only precautionary. Alayna came home to us with rickets, and the MD said that this predisposes them for premature suture closure.
