Hi Deborah,

My doctor won't let me take methotrexate or enbrel at all with a cold

just incase I needed antibiotics.

Which you should not take if your on Enbrel or methotrexate.

As far as I know, except for septra, there is no problem taking

antibiotics with methotrexate, which increases the levels and can

give you severe folate deficiency. I have been on methotrexate for

over a year, had several infections and been on lots of antibiotics,

including over my surgery. Enbrel, remicade and humira are a

different story. Even with bad pneumonia, my doctor said stay on

methotrexate unless my WBC was below normal...so always check with

your doctor, maybe it is different on a case per case basis.
