Hi All,

I believe I am walking around on a stress fracture of my left foot even though

an x-ray did not reveal one. The foot is very painful(in addition to it's normal

RA pain) and swollen twice the size of the other and to put weight on it is

definitely worse. The doctor says the next step is a bone scan with dye and

takes about 3 hrs.To make matters worse, I have a large Baker's cyst behind that

knee which is leaking down my calf...UGHG!!!!!!!

My left foot has been fused twice and has a lot of metal in it so MRI is not an

option. Can anyone tell me if the bone scan is the next step as with 2 fusions I

never remember having a bone scan for all that I had done to the left foot. CAT

scan yes...any help would be greatly appreciated as I go to the Rheumatologist

in Hershey tomorrow for my second " half " of a Humira injection

Thanks all

Joanne

does take over 3 hours but all that time is not spent at the

hosipatal I went they did one scan and then gave me a shot of

radioactive stuff and tolld me come back in three hours. They are

some great people on here who can give you answers and support I

hi Joanne again,

I Know we have been discussing Humira, but I just read your stress

fracture post. The bone scan is not a big deal. The worst part is

waiting around the three hours until the dye gets in your system.

The actual picture taking takes less than an hour and does not hurt

at all.

I had a Baker's cyst as well behind my left knee and they did do an

arthroscopy to repair the damage at the front of my knee which I was

told usually causes the Baker's cysts. They did not touch the

cyst, but it went away after the surgical repair. It was one of the

best things I have ever done because my knee is much better now. I

still have the usual RA aches and pains and stiffness, but at least

the knee is stable now. IT does not give out anymore at all. I

have had stress fractures too. I don't know why it did not show on

the x-ray. Have you been to a podiatrist? I have an awesome one

who has been helping me with my foot pain and yes I have been in a

walking cast for four weeks now, but it has been worth it because my

pain is almost gone there.

Well, good luck.
