Guest guest
Hi Judy, Welcome to the group. Check thru all the archives and you might find some answers to your questions. What did you mean by > and once > doctors find one thing wrong they tend to blame everything on that. ? I discovered I had TC (knew that I had spina bifida with a lipoma at L4,5 S1) at age 50 and had my first release at 51. After a lot of trouble healing, it took a year to recover. I had a few good years, but have gone downhill since. In the past 4 years, I've started wearing bilatel AFOs, use a scooter, drive with handcontrols, all of which I didn't have before. BUT if I'd not had the surgery,I'd been like that back in 1997. Unlike most you find here, my neurosurgeon does not recommend another release because of all the scarring I had with the first. Plus I had to heal by the inside out and the incision never filled in. I've now also got a syrinx at T9 and stenosis and osteophytes at C5,6,7. The cervical stuff may be related to aging (I'm now 58) So my back is really a mess now. I see a pain management specialist, who has given me more relief that the physiatrist I've seen, but I keep collecting symptoms - either from the TC, aging, or side effect of medications. I don't post that much, as I'm busy doing other things..but yours caught my eye. V
