Constipation is a big issue for us. I'm wondering if yeast flare-ups can

contribute to constipation? I am leery of giving anything that could cause

constipation to my son, since it is such a problem to begin with! We DO give

additional magnesium and vitamin C, and it will work for awhile, then all of a

sudden will seem to stop working. I'm wondering, if I give him AC, how often

should I do so? Should it be part of the regular regimen of supplements I give?

We are currently detoxing with Authia cream, and having excellent results,

(aside from the yeast/constipation). Please advise as to the best use of AC in

this situation. Thanks so much . . .

Activated charcoal can cause constipation, which can easily be remedied by the

addition of psyllium, magnesium, or herbal laxatives.

Diane.. one of the main things that yeast can do in some kids is

cause constipation. The one and only time Slater was constipated it

was yeast. Also, if this is happening, you might try upping your

naturals for gut bugs and probiotics also. We use Uva Ursi and that

would be when I'd go to full dose on it, be sure I've cut out all

sugars and up the probiotic along with increasing magnesium and

vitamin c if your kiddo can tolerate those. We had to take a LOT of

magnesium to get things moving when this happened from what I recall

and used the citrate or oxide form which are known to work well. I'm

sure other forms do also but that is what we used.

I would not use activated charcoal all the time but just my .02. :)

It grabs absolutely everything and we were always told to use it

for " special events " :) like tantrums that are persistent and times

when we felt there was die off or something else going on. I've

actually taken it for just plain stomach upset as well and it worked

well for that. I'd think you'd really have to be careful to use it

all the time that you did not deplete the supplements you know are

so critical. It HAS to be given away from other supplements etc by

an hour or two and that is hard to do with our kids I feel. I'd just

use it for those occasions when there are big problems. Ann or Dr.

JM or someone else can correct me if I'm wrong on this but that is

what we did.

Best of luck!
