RIght foot pain

Hi everyone,

Well, I made the big trip to Portland to see the foot specialist. I

have something called a " hitchhiker toe " or at least that is what

the doctor calls it, his little nickname for it as my big toe does

not touch the ground when I walk on that side from the pain. I have

apparently irritated, inflamed, or whatever the deep nerve in my

foot. The treatment is six weeks in a walking air cast, but he says

I will feel much better walking which is a relief to me because I

have been having such trouble getting around. When you start to get

jealous of people in motorized wheelchairs because they can whip

right by you, you know you are in trouble. No surgery for now

(YEAH), but it could be necessary if the casting does not work, but

I plan on thinking positively about this and hoping it will work.

He says he has seen it in RA patients and patients with Sjogren's

and sometimes people without either disease.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? I wish I could remember the

name of the nerve for you, but I cannot, sorry. I would love to

hear your stories if you have had this problem before. You can

email me at tracierae@... as I am so bad about getting to

the posting board lately and with the big cast I will probably be

even worse about it. My daughter at least can let me know if I have

email and print it off.

Take care everyone and like I said I am glad there is no planned

surgery as of yet and I hope to keep it that way!

Gentle hugs to all,

Tracie in Maine
