Hi ,

I hadn't seen any recent posts from you and wondered how you were

doing with your hand? Last I read they were trying to get the

swelling down and...

It's been over 8 weeks since my surgery, and the doctor said I could

TRY bowling, so Ron and I went and bowled one game yesterday. I was

afraid, because my hand has been tender and the wrist a little sore,

but I bowled over 100 (on new lanes!) and the only problem was with

my elbows and hips, so I guess I'll give it a try this year. Even

though one of the women in our couples league can't understand why I

use a cane to walk but I can bowl (I told her it's only 5 steps and

I'm not a pro bowler!)

Thought I'd give you some encouragement, and looking for some good

news from you,

Judi

Hello again Judi,

Yes I am and have been going through a pretty bad flare. I don't

want to practice what I preach and ask for additional help. I think

I am afraid that the Doc will want to put me on Prednisone and I

definitely don't want that. I think that when I am no longer able

to care for my hubby I may have to start and waaaa, I don't want to!

No services in this county for handicapped people who don't live

in one of the bigger cities.

I know what you mean about your haven. My bedroom/computer-room/

TV-room is my little get away too. Gives me a few minutes to re-group.

I am happy that you and your husband can appreciate each others

limits and have adapted to the life change. Somehow we all find a way

to cope don't we? I think sometimes I would feel better if I could just

sit down and have a good cry.

I try to make ahead some meals on the weekend that I can just heat up

later in the week. Problem is, my hubby hates anything that you can

make in one pan (casseroles) and has a whole list of dislikes. I think I

will have to have my way on this one. I will have to say he is slowly

eating some things that he didn't use to.

Thanks for the open invitation to talk and ditto my friend.

Hugs,

Pat-Kansas

Dear Judi,

when someone lets you know they've found a doctor to relieve their pain without

making them feel like a lowlife, let me know!!! My pain management doctor said

you can take Ultram together with Tylenol. You may want to ask about that. I

can get some sleep if I take both. Check with your Dr. of course. They seem to

contradict each other a lot.

You really hit the nail on the head! I don't have RA, but still have a

couple of very painful diseases, Fibro and Dercum's. I started taking

Lyrica a couple of weeks ago, and it has already stopped working. With

Dercum's the lipomas all over are very painful when touched, and

sometimes they pulsate pain kind of like a bad bee sting. My joints

ache and are stiff, and I have to tiptoe on my right foot now due to a

tumor in the arch (which I hope to have removed soon!) Ultram takes

the edge off, but like you, sleep is a thing of the past. And it's

hard to convince a doctor, who doesn't understand your pain and only

sees someone he/she thinks is a whiner, especially when they don't

understand your disase!

When you find someone who can give us all pain relief and sleep without

feeling like we are drug addicts and lowlifes, let me know!
