Guest guest
Pat, In this day of soaring malpractice claims, covering their behinds is just survival skills for doctors. I can't imagine spending all those years in school to be a doctor, and then not being able to afford to practice medicine because the insurance is to high. From talking to many doctors, they are just as unhappy about the current situation as we are. They are governed by insurance companies. They can't order tests for us without the insurance company approving it. and if they do, they are liable for the bill. Doctors can't be doctors anymore. There are some very good ones out there and many that really do care. You just have to keep searching. a On May 24, 2005, at 6:51 AM, ju2346 wrote: > Is your rhuemy incompetent? Guest guest
Pat, I don't know where you are located but I started out with the VA and pay for my TRICARE Prime insurance too. I go to a private RA but am not sure how good they are. I make sure that I get as much education as I can to prepare myself to see them. Ask questions - that is the biggest help to me. Ask about your blood tests...ask for a technician to explain all the values that have to do with RA - which ones are in range and which aren't. If a test is borderline, ask for them to do it again. There is also a listing of RA doctors around the country and maybe Jan can tell you how to access it. I used to have the link but had to redo my computer recently.
