Our son got the pneumonia a month ago and he was on Zirthromax. Our doc had

us stay on LDN and we saw no issues. The Zirthromax worked great. We did

stop the chelating until he got better which was about 2-3 weeks.hated

having him on antibiotics, but a pneumonia is nothing to mess with as you

know, so it's just something you have to do. The probiotics you mention are

good except I seem to remember that Culturelle has trace casein, which is a

problem for some. Probably should consider increasing them towards the end

of the antibiotics.

As far as seeing pneumonia over and over, that can happen, but it seems more

likely when the body is stressed. Our son got his right after a cold and

sounds like your child got it after DMSA which does stress the body

somewhat. It is worth considering removing other stressors until the

pneumonia has cleared.

antibiotic's and inhaled steroid's questions

Hi. My six year old has pneumonia. He was doing so well since

June, but this snuck up on us after our first round of TD-DMSA. I

am soooooooo upset about him having to be on antibiotics. In

addition, his ped. wants him doing the inhaled Albuterol every 4-8

hours and inhaled Pulmicort twice a day. She wants him on the

Pulmicort the rest of the winter. He tends to get pneumonia 2-3

times a year and the Pulmicort has been very effective in preventing

it that past two years, however, we were really hoping to keep him

off of it this year.

First, what should we do while he is on the antibiotic as far as

probitics, etc? How much can I give him? Which brands? I have

Klaire's, Jarrow, Culturelle and maybe something else.

What can we do to keep him off the Pulmicort? Any ideas or insight

are greatly appreciated.

When we took him off dairy early last spring we thought we saw a

miracle connection between dairy and the need for Pulmicort, or

removing dairy and then not needing the Pulmicort. We are really

bummed that he is having these issues again and it isn't dairy

related.

Also, can we give the LDN with Zithromax, Albuterol and Pulmicort?

Thanks,

If your child's Zithromax was administered in capsule form, then it had

lactose in it. The suspension doesn't have lactose, although I am not sure

what the " creme de vanilla " contains. See

http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/azith.htm

Which antibiotic is your child on? Most have lactose in them. The connection

you made between dairy and the need for asthma inhalers is the same one we

made when Leah was 3. She was diagnosed with severe asthma by 18 months. You

can read our story on my website. I'll bet you could insert your child's

name instead of mine and the story would be the same.

Our daughter experienced flu like symptoms while taking DMPS. I stopped the

chelation during the stressful times. Chelation is hard on the body and

sometimes you just have to go slowly. Our daughter still gained all of the

effects of chelation over a 15 month program of DMPS even though we had to stop

for a couple of weeks at a time - on and off. She's progressing great now with a

maintenance of Author and clay baths.

It has always been my understanding that both the liquid (Zithromax)

and the pills have lactose and red dye (two of our biggies we try to

avoid). But, we do like Zithromax because it is usually a smaller

amount of those things than if we were to take most other

antibiotics. I researced them really well a couple of years ago

when my son was IgE allergic to dairy. The only one I found that

was acceptable was Omnicef. I think it is gluten free too, but not

sure. It also didn't have the dyes when we tried it, not sure now

as I know these things can all change.

The liquid version of Zithromax, at least for the brand I looked up, doesn't

have lactose in it. It does have food coloring. Omnicef doesn't have lactose

in the capsules or suspension, but both have red 40 and blue food coloring.

It also has corn starch in it (big no-no for us). Here is the link to

My heart goes out to you! This is what my child is on every winter also.

It is hard to go through! I understand your frustration, and being so upset

he has to be on this. I hope you find some alternatives! For two years now

we have turned off our heat and only used portable heaters, and this has

reduced his problems significantly!

, we used the suspension form without the vanilla and we saw very good

results. There is also a study showing the effectiveness of Azithromycin at

treating OCD/PANDAS, so that may even help some people more. L

They only thing I can think of is so it will appeal to people,

especially kids. A doctor prescribed Carafate after scoping my

daughter last Spring and I ended up not being able to give it to her

because they simply don't make it in the US w/o red dye. The

company said they make it for Canada w/o the dye, but it is not

available that way in the US. Crazy, huh?
