This is your moderator , wanting to comment

on

two items of business:

1. Miryam on is looking for those to answer

questions about diabetes. I am always leary of those

things. I don't like my mind " picked " by anyone.

However, there may be those who would like to answer

her questions. Please reply to her offer on your own

and do NOT come back on the list if you do not like

what is done with your infermation.

2. Also curiosity has me wondering about why in 2

days people (I would suspect males) have signed on as

audobonman and also as audobonguy

Just found that interesting. Do you 2 know each

other?

I just wanted to tell you that I have known Miryam for 42 years, and

she has helped many people with her writing. Her current book is an

attempt to help those newly diagnosed by having those who have " been

there " share what worked for them. She is trying also to interview

people with unusual additional stressors, like eating disorders, as

this can make coping with diabetes an even greater struggle. This will

be a new angle as most books focus on white middle class women.

I do not understand your concern about your mind being " picked " , as

being interviewed does not require you to disclose anything you are

uncomfortable with any more than writing on this list does. If you

don't want to help that's fine, but a comment like that can put fear

into those who may have wanted to help others. Another way to approach

this would have been to write to Miryam and speak to her about your

concerns.

Thank you for letting us know that you reccomend her

as a positive person to do such a study.

You haven't seen other notes I get from people,

off-list who don't like the fact that someone could be

picking things off the list and using them in a book

somewhere. It makes the list feel unsafe!

If you don't want to help that's fine, but a comment

like that can put fear into those who may have wanted

to help others.

Sorry I'm not allowed to express my own opinions on

this list!!!!!
