Guest guest
Hi everyone, I've just had a really rough day. I took my Dad into emerg yesterday because of increasing SOB--they reassessed his home 02 level and increased it from 1.5LPM to 3.5LPM and sent him home. Well, this morning, he went back, this time in an ambulance. His sats were in the 50's. My brother, mom and I spent most of the day in emerg with him and spoke with doctor after doctor. I thought that the increased SOB might be due to the fact that he has been weaning off of the prednisone for the past 2 weeks. the ER doc asked us if we had discussed DNR and life support issues with my Dad...we hadn't. So we discussed --it was such a hard thing to do. I'm a bit angry too, that his respirologist never discussed this type of thing with us. I don't think any of us knew how far the fibrosis had progressed. They think that my Dad has had a heart attack recently (from the cardiac enzyme levels) although we can't pinpoint when. He's been admitted to the repiratory department and they expect him to be there at least three days although there is a chance that he may not be coming home at all. When we left him, he was on about 12LPM 02 and his heart rate was 120BPM. I'm afraid that this may be the end for him and just wanted to ask you all to please say a prayer for us, anne (dad ipf 03/06)
