Guest guest
I am not on meds... control with diet and exercise.... I am allowed so many carbs per meal/snack... for lunch it is 60 carbs... snacks 15-20 carbs.. and am limited to 40 grams of fat per day too.... I tend to bring something to work that I can microwave... like a lean pocket (low in fat and moderate in carbs), unsweetened apple sauce or light yogurt. That is what I usually have for lunch. My mid how are bg's running? sounds like you're tired from too many carbs take bg before you eat, then 1 hr after eating then 2 hrs after eating, bedtime and see how the food is doing to your body, this may be a carb problem. carol

If so, what are your readings. Also, could you take a brief walk during your lunch period, even 10 minutes would probably help. Guest guest
Well maybe it depends. I have not been able to really get my afternoon BG's under say 165 with 165 being the highest and I don't get tired. It seems my too highs don't kick in till I'm at like 180 but that doesn't mean I'm not doing some harm, but I am consistent in that. I can see them going down in the summer because who wants to eat all that heavy food but my heaviest meal is during the day which to me is better than at night, cause I will have a chance to move some of that food. I try to drink like 3-4 huge glasses of water with my midday meal as well. > In a message dated 04/10/2001 6:06:14 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > suziqm@y... writes: > > > > Actually no... My mid morning snack might be something like carrot sticks, a few crackers, something of this nature. I usually don't eat the afternoon snack until I get home unless I feel hungry. My breakfast varies from a slim-fast shake (I never ate this meal before being diagnosed), or an english muffin (whole wheat) with small amount of low sugar apricot preserves or maybe a banana or cereal. I really do not know why the tired feeling and low energy level in the afternoon... but I do not like it at all... I hate feeling like I have no energy. This worries me a lot because I drive 58 miles one way to work... knowing I have to drive home tired like this worries me. Will a protein snack in the afternoon help with this or not? I am tired like I used to be years ago (4 1/2) before I got my CPAP machine for sleep apnea. I hate being tired like that and feeling drained of energy. I come home too tired to really accomplish anything. What can help with this? Maybe you can post your menu when you started feeling tired and now too, and your meds and supplements, maybe we could suggest some thing for you, and be sure to have dr look at ayou and do a complete blood workup. do you low carb? Guest guest
Kathleen, Actually no... I usually forget to bring my meter to work with me... I have a few times... and when I do check they are never really any higher than 160 or so..... that is why I am confused.... I was one of those who were told to check 3 - 4 times weekly... but I do check more often. I will try to remember to bring my meter tomorrow and when I get that no energy feeling, I will test to see what it is... My goal is to really understand this disease and control it. I can feel when my bgs are getting low.. that I have figured out... but this tired feeling I have not been able to figure out. At 04:26 PM 4/10/01 +0000, you wrote: ... Do you know what your bg's are when you're feeling so tired? Usually when I get exceptionally tired, it's because my bg level is pretty high. When it's under control, my energy level is MUCH better.
