Guest guest
A quick background...new co worker, been there 5 1/2 months....before I had surgery, she says...you look healthy, why are you having surgery?? This woman is a healthcare professional, don't you think she'd know better? Does she say that to all her patients? Anyway...them's fighting words....I took instant dislike to her then. It's now 2 weeks back to work and 've worked with her straight through. Despite excess training and full time work, she can't function as an actual full person. Today I had her and another incompetent coworker...I did EVERYTHING for everybody...I'll admit that I was snarky after 2 weeks of this and her constant questions and whining about how busy it is and perhaps I could've been nicer to her, but it was BUSY ..I have just come back from surgery that wasn't sucessful, I'm in pain, on my feet all day, I'm anemic again, I didn't get a break, stayed an hour late then find out she went and told the boss that I'm mean to her and it's not her fault because she has been fighting a cold and has been tired lately. So the boss let her go half an hour early!!!! Plus she makes more money than me, because of an incentive she got when she was hired!!!!AGGGGGGGGGH Can I get sympathy or understanding of how much I do under the circumstances from a healthy person...just once, they really don't understand...but I would've thought healthcare was different. Similar stories anyone? Lexi
Guest guest
Lexi: I had surgery last June and trained my replacement who was supposed to be there only while I was off recovering. Well, while I was away she schmoozed with my two bosses so badly that she convinced them to keep her on after I returned. That wouldn't have been so bad had she not turned out to be a back-stabbing brown noser! Long story short, when I had to book off work this January after developing RA, she attended a work related seminar and ended up badmouthing me to former co-workers! Said that she didn't think I was really sick because I " looked just fine " to her. People I used to work with called me at home telling how she was saying all these rotten things about me. I haven't returned to work since, and won't be able to go back until I can get my RA under control, but I WILL be putting in for a transfer. People like the two we are working with are POISON! You have enough on your plate and the last you need is someone like that draining you emotionally. Hang in there girl...... > A quick background...new co worker, been there 5 1/2 months....before > I had surgery, she says...you look healthy, why are you having > surgery?? Guest guest
Lexi, Well, I haven't worked except at church in over 5 years, but the one person who seems to just shrug off my illness (fibro, Dercum's Disease, and recently dx with MS) is my own daughter!! I think she just can't handle the fact that her parents are getting older. I know she has a lot on her plate with 4 kids and a job and going to college part-time, but just once I wouldn't mind the tiniest bit of sympathy from her. With your co-worker, I can't blame you for being snarky! There ought to be a form that our doctors can fill out to tell our bosses and co- workers exactly what we are feeling. Take care, Judi

Guest guest
Lexi, I love that name!! That was my grandmother's name (funny thing, her husband was named Leck!!). Anyway, I hear ya. I work in a hospital as a surgical nurse. They don't get it. The only ones who get it are the orthopedic surgeons and a few scrub techs who are in nursing school and just got done studying RA. Healthcare seems to care the least about you. I have been in this business for 13 years and there is NO sympathy or care for their own. I always thought of healthcare like the government. They are too busy taking care of everyone else to have time to care about their own!! I have the same issues. I was off work last year for 6 months. Now, when I went back I thought there would be some kind of re-orientation and some kind of schedule that would let me build up my strength and stamina. Nope, just threw me right back into the mix. Didn't tell me anything about any departmental changes (there were a lot), didn't allow me to re-orient to surgical cases, nothing. Just right into full time as if I had onloy been gone 6 days instead of 6 months. To top it off, they put me with the most incompetent person in the department. You're not alone in this one, believe me. Email me if you want, we can talk more about it......Marina

Guest guest
I know how you feel Kathy. Today has been a bad day for me too. I have been using the heating pad off and on all day as my lower back has been hurting sooooooo bad. They say a cold front is coming through tonight. Well here in Texas the " cold front " is suppose to be in the mid 40's so they say. It is unusually cool for this time of the year though. As for PMS we never heard that term in my young days. Yeah I am kinda old........... Guest guest
Kathy, I'm not surprised. I began going into the menapause when I was 36 years old in 1966. Really had a bad time of it.
