Guest guest
Hi Everybody, This is fun. Now I'm getting two copies of the messages but wasn't seeing mine on the list. Okay, the doctor has recommended an insulin pump for me because of the wide swings I'm having. Does anybody know anything about them and could you write to me either on list or off list and tell me about your experience with them? Living alone, these swings really do frighten me. April Somebody has significantly improved my life! It's a tough job, but there are some really tough people out there!
Guest guest
April, If you are having wide swings in your blood glucose levels, this can usually be avoided by carb counting and dosing with humalog and lantus. What medications are you using now for sugar control? Insulin Pump > Hi Everybody, > > This is fun. Now I'm getting two copies of the messages but wasn't seeing mine on the list. Guest guest
Harry, Right now I am using 70/30 Humalin twice daily and Glucophage 850mg three times a day. These wide swings are killing me. LOL. April Insulin Pump > > > > Hi Everybody, > > > > This is fun. Now I'm getting two copies of the messages but wasn't seeing > mine on the list. Guest guest
In my opinion you will never achieve tight glucose control with 70/30 insulin. I would recommend you get a physician who will prescribe Lantus for your basal insulin and humalog for your carbohydrate consumption at meal time and snacks. Probabably with carb counting, frequent glucose monitoring and proper dosing with humalog, you could stop taking glucophage. The good folks here helped me gain tight glucose control by just carb counting and dosing properly with Lantus and Humalog. In August of 2003 my A1C was 9.2. In December of 2003 after carb counting and proper dosing with Lantus and Humalog my A1C was 5.7. Also for the first time in my life my lipid levels were in the normal range. From what I have read it is those high peaks in glucose levels that causes blindness, heart trouble, strokes, kidney problems and a whole host of other nasties. So get a doctor who will work for you, and we will help you gain control over this monster called diabetes. Insulin Pump > > > > > > > Hi Everybody, > > > > > > This is fun. Guest guest
Hello, april There are several of us on the list who have insulin pumps. they are wonderful and once calibrated to your nees, really keep the swings down. the type of insulin you are on now is not good control. either the N part of the 70-30 is not enough or too much and the R part of it (the 30 percent) is too much or not enough) hence the insulin swings. My e-mail is plawolf@..., if you want more info. Insulin Pump Hi Everybody, This is fun. Now I'm getting two copies of the messages but wasn't seeing mine on the list.
