I wouldencourage you to continue and not be discouraged withyour initial claim being refused. soft ocean breezes__________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hello Joy, I am on a disability support pension, but I live in Australia. It wasn,t too hard for me to get it, as I was put on it firstly because of my asthma, then later I had a big op that went all wrong, and I became incontinent, had catheter for 18 months, then another big op etc. There were piles of paperwork, I was also sent to 2 doctors, not my own. They were government doctors. I have a review every 2-5 years. My carer/ companion was put on the same pension after an accident at work. He had a lot of trouble getting the pension, 3 doctors agrred he needed to be on it, but the govt doctors kept saying no. However after a period of 6 months on a different allowance, as he couldn,t work, a spinal surgeon contacted the govt, and then in turn sent them a letter, they then re evaluated the situation, and he was then put on the disabillity pension. But it was a lot of hard talking and arguing etc. Plenty more paperwork and we also got as many supportive letters to assist. So don,t give up, its a matter of being very persistant, and having as much proof of incapacity etc. You can also appeal, but in doing that make sure you have several doctors/ specialists etc write letters and reports that you cantake with you, even go as far as keeping a list/ record of medications etc, the frequency of pharmacy visits etc, as proof that in the past you din,t need to see so many doctors or need so much medication etc. You never have to many records to show proof, to arm yourself with. Hope this is of some help. Sandy ( OZ)
