Guest guest
Hi Debbie, There really are other ways. Do you have a Chinese health centre in your vicinity. I am certain that they would gladly advise you if possible. Acupuncture is also an excellent way to counteract pain and as for myself, I use a simple magnetic bracelet which works through the blood stream. Whenever I get a pain for any reason at all, I just wear it for a few days and get quite exceptional results. The only onerous thing about it is that you need to drink at least six glasses of water a day. Willow water is the best as it contains natural salacin, but any spring water is OK. All the best. Larry I read the messages posted here, often.... But I am needing some guidness with my husbands emotional rollercoaster..First the pain comes( he takes LORATAB) for pain which does not take all the pain away...then comes the tears (he is on daily casadex)and 4 month HT injection(Eligard)last gotten was in July..psa level was 5.6 in March(coming down from 274 and in July it is 6.8..Went to a cancer doctor for a first visit there since seeing uroligist since March..He was very rude when husband asked for script for pain pills..No explanation for the anger..so now husband is thinking of not returning to cancer center... I have suggested maybe its time to try something else for pain?? is there?? I have read that radiation usually does not work on someone with lots of mets.(spot on lower spin, pelvic, etc) he says his pain is in his legs....The cancer doctor is trying to push that husbands pain in legs is from a prior injury to back in 1995..a new bone scan is being done next month..should we wait for those results before pushing for something else??? I just hope someone in this group can give me suggestions...thank you for your time it took to readThere are just two rules for this group 1 No Spam 2 Be kind to othersPlease recognise that Prostate Cancerhas different guises and needs different levels of treatment and in some cases no treatment at all. Guest guest
-Wow! Debbie, This sounds serious. I never had to take anything more than Alleve. Perhaps a new Physician is in order. -- In ProstateCancerSupport , " Debbie " wrote: > > I read the messages posted here, often.... Guest guest
I think your husband should see an oncologist. Pain is not the specialty of a urologist. If he doesn't get the support he needs from the oncologist for the pain then he should seek out a pain/palliative care physician. Even if leg injury is a prior injury it is still painful. The reaction you got is being gotten by patients in many doctor's offices in the U.S. Doctors are fearful of prescribing pain medications because they might be accused of contributing to the patient's abuse of pain killers. This has become more prevalent since the media frenzy over Rush Limbaugh " s alleged drug abuse. Some doctors have been jailed and fined for prescribing what was construed to be aiding an abuser obtain excessive amounts of drugs. I have Arthritis and frequent the lists devoted to that disease and the participants are having the same problem you mentioned. The consensus is, one must try to find a doctor, perhaps a Medical Oncologist, or a pain clinic where the doctors are expert in relieving many kinds of pain. It has become another instance where the people who have need are being deprived by the people who abuse. Modern medicine can and should treat pain regardless of it's origin. The swig of whiskey and bullet between the teeth method is no longer acceptable. I hope things get better for you and your husband. Talk to the doctors. They are not Gods. Tell them you are the ones in charge and do not leave without some answers. Dr. Strum once said, " MD does not mean Medical Diety. " All my best. 2601 " il faut d'abord durer " Hemingway Emotional Help >I read the messages posted here, often....
