Guest guest
Before I post the link and also the story in newspaper below let me first say I woke up and turned on news like i sometimes I do...sometimes I change it but thank god i didnt today. A GREAT and KIND HEARTED well known artist and convenience store owner in caswell county nc (where my parents live) came on the news that he was robbed yesterday afternoon and murdered. I started almost screaming NOOOOOOOOO...and i called my mom. My step dad and brother who i feel so badly for were good buddies of this guy, he and i met on a couple of occasions and when i went in there and i looked at his art he gave me a small copy of the picture he painted of dale jr and his father. The art was his life and the store was his 'hobby. he had a cute little house next door he fixed up and also put in a new beautiful lit up pond he showed us. His art is well known and he was going to have a showing of his art in greensboro coming up. His art is also always on display at the local humane society as well as the yancey house which is a beautiful restaraunt in yanceyville NC. He was known by everyone and loved by everyone and I am very sad today to hear of these 3 guys who seem to be either teens or early 20s KILLING him in cold blood for the little bit he had in his store. The whole community is feeling his loss and i wanted to post for you all to read- maybe some of you in that area have known him also or driven past his store or also seen his beautiful art work. He was originally from Egypt and one thing i remember hearing is that he was so fascinated by the clouds in our skies as they do not have any or many in egypt. Below is the story. RIP you were a beautiful man loved by so many. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ ---- Slain Caswell store owner described as hard-working, cautious Times-News January 17, 2008 - 5:11PM Times-News The owner of a Caswell County convenience store was shot to death Thursday afternoon during an armed robbery. Caswell County Sheriff Welch said that shortly before 3 p.m., three men entered the Times Three convenience store on rural N.C. 158 intending to commit a robbery. Sayed Rawi, the store's owner, was shot and killed during the robbery. The suspects, who are believed to have gotten away with cash, were last seen getting into a black older model Acura sedan with silver tinted windows. They were only described as black men. Welch said his department has asked the Alamance County and Rockingham County sheriff's departments to help them find the vehicle. The SBI is also assisting with the investigation. " We are trying to gather as much information as we can, " he said, adding that investigators are looking at the store's surveillance video. Welch said this is not the first time the store has been victimized, though he didn't think the instances were related. Stunned residents standing in front of a duplex directly across the street from the convenience store said Rawi lived in the small home with his wife next to his convenience store. " He was a nice person, " said Frances Bloom. " He got along with everybody. " Bloom's son-in-law, Beasley, said he had just bought a pack of cigarettes from Rawi earlier in the day. " He was a hard-working and cautious guy, " he said. " I heard he had a gun, but I had never seen it. " This is the second homicide in Caswell County since the beginning of the year, according to Welch. His department is also investigating a domestic-related homicide that happened earlier this week. Anyone with information about the robbery/shooting is asked to call the Caswell County CrimeStoppers at 694-5199. The suspects should be considered armed and dangerous, Welch said. http://www.thetimesnews.com/news/county_9498___article.html/store_welch.html --
