There may be a simple solution: the psychological relevance of the individual astrological chart! This has been my life's opus and one that I have taught for years at various Jung Institutes, here and abroad and have tried to summarize in two books. Astrology is a symbolic language of archetypal processes.. My definition of a chart= the individual chart based on time and place and date [3] will show the way that person is likely to process experience. This is largely unconscious but the option for guidance exists. Those 3 dimensions form a block, a symbol for manifestion. It can be measured. No two people can occupy the same point in space.No two charts are identical. Twins may be born at the same moment in time, but one may be shopping while the other one is reading a book, so the experience to be processed will differ. Every chart has the same ingredients, yet each is unique. A simple proof: 10 people stand in a circle. They share the same circle but each sees it from a different point of view and each is equally valuable. The various typologies, etc. etc are valid but not as differentiated as the accurate chart. Jung knew this. ----------- The paradox is that collectively no two charts are identical but every chart has the same ingredients! 50 people may attend the same lecture but they will hear 50 different lectures! This is the ongoing mystery of consciousness. Predictions are basically not the best purpose of astrology because individuals have a choice of at what level they will process experience. The better we heed "Know thyself!, the more likely we can internalize the matter and not suffer acting it out as fate! (One of the purposes of Jungian analysis and/or spiritual growth No human being"s consciousness is superior to the Greater Reality because the ego functions through duality. The Tao that can be defined is not the Tao. The conscious ego thinks; only the center point dwelling in the unconscious "knows". It's the difference between brain and "heart". Remember Jung's wisdom of the psyche as mandala. The formula for a circle's area is pi r squared and pi never comes out! Now that I am going to be 88, I am of the same opinion. I am only wiser in one respect: I KNOW FOR CERTAIN HOW MUCH I DON'T KNOW!
