Guest guest
It can take as long as three months to see achieve the maximum effect of MTX. I got relief at 15 mg a week...which is 6 pills or 0.6cc of the injectable. It could be that your dose is too low and needs adjusting. There are some others here that take 25mg a week. Especially if he made changes in the prednisone and you were still not getting any relief....hmmm...sounds like either your dose is too low or its not going to work for you. I would think the dose is too low. OF course the dose has to be adjusted slowly and a careful eye kept on your liver, kidney and complete blood count. Some people can not tolerate the higher dosages. I personally could not. I would talk to your doctor and I would not wait. Toni In a message dated 4/20/05 4:44:19 A.M. I was taking 7.5 mg for about 6 wks and now taking 12.5 mg since my prednisone has been decreased. (boy is that not fun!) Should it be working by now? I see my MD in a week, but I just wanna' know if this is normal or not. Thanks everyone. diana louisiana

Guest guest
I can't help sorry but noticed you said something bad about lowering your prednisone. I've been on it for 18 mths for eczema, it hurt my bones, now they're wanting me to go on azathioprine or methatrexate and decrease prednisone. What went wrong with decreasing the pred? So sorry though. --- In , " dianaenxing " <dianaenxing@y...> wrote: > > > I have been on MTX for almost 2 months now and have not noticed any > signs that it is working.
