I just finished having wrist surgery (synovectomy and cartilage

repair). I've been off work 4 1/2 weeks and it's still worse than

before surgery. It is unlikely to get better as the surgeon said it is

worse than he thought and I have grade 4 (bone on bone...no cartilage

left) on all the major areas of my wrist. I'm very discouraged. i

need extensive surgery for any benefit. I'm not ready for this and I

need about another year to build up sick time. I haven't been able to

do any cardiovascular exercise and thought if my wrists were better I

could golf, bike or swim. (walking/running is too painful on feet until

they're fixed too). The ortho said physio wouldn't be of benefit. It

is now stiff and sore and painful over the prominence when I twist or

turn and the pain hurts up into my hand. Does anyone have any tips,

tricks, types of wrist splints/supports that have helped? Advice?

I'm only 30 and frustruated to see nothing but surgery for the next 40

years!!! Any thoughts? My RA is under control (my rheumy increased my

MTX just in case) but most of my joint issues are damage, which is

discouraging, since there's no medication or simple treatment.
