I feel the same way!

Call me lazy all you want, sometimes I have to be.

I am a workaholic at heart and when my body was cooperating I worked 3 jobs,

slept 4 hours a night...busting my butt as a single parent for many years.

You just don't go from workaholic to lazy overnight unless you're FORCED to

in my opinion. It absolutely drives me crazy not to be working.....but I have

NO CHOICE.

All I know is that I cannot work a 'real job' outside my home because of all

my medical problems, heavy medications, high liability to employers, ect. I

do the best I can to make money working out of my house under my own time,

under my own working conditions and I do pretty well when my body cooperates.

Working out of my home gives me a lot of freedom to do things when I'm able

to, not when I'm forced to or expected to do so.

The thing is, those people that call me LAZY have NO CLUE what kind of pain

I deal with on a daily basis. They can all kiss my rear end. Their opinion

doesn't matter to me whatsoever, I don't have time to deal with them.

Hi

I'm just curious - what do you mean by a liability to a company? Many people

work in high-risk jobs while on medication. Pain mgt. medication, as I

understand the goal is not to ever get rid of all of your pain, but to bring it

to what would be an acceptable level. To bring pain to nothing would be

over-doing medication and getting what I call " head-effects " . My pain mgt.

doctor in Maine had patients that were policemen, teachers, corporate CEO's -

all taking pain medicine, all doing fine in their jobs and beyond maybe

tiredness that you get used to - they do great.

I know you said you're on Soma which most doctors won't give out because of it's

very high addiction rate. I've never heard of the other med you're on - but

maybe your daily dose is too high if you're not yourself on them? Maybe

break-through meds would help times when you over-do or have to over-do. The

only time I get head effects from meds is when I'm starting a higher dose or

once in a while on a new med - but, I become acclimated and make sure to not get

rid of all the pain, just as I said, to an acceptable level. Let's face it,

most people our age live with one type of pain or another.

I work with a woman who has serious allergies and

asthma. She can't come to work when the janitorial

staff are shampooing carpets, waxing floors, or if

they're painting. She can't walk onto a floor of our

building if they're burning candles or if someone uses

too much perfume. We have discussed her as a

liability. The fact that she is at great danger just

walking into our building makes her a liability. We

can't fire her, though, nor would I want to. She's

amazing at her job.

I would think I would be a liability if I were to have

a lifting portion to my job. My pain meds don't come

into play at all. But my limitations would if part of

my job was lifting. That's the only way I can see

being a liability.
