Guest guest
Hi everyone, I heard about this on the news, and was looking into it. This is great news! Go Canada! I also read somewhere that a patient undergoing this would have to take anti-rejection drugs in order for this to work long-term. Does anyone know if this is true? Does anyone know what kinds of side-effects are associated with anti-rejection drugs? Can a woman have children while on these drugs? Just a few things that popped into my mind! Guest guest
Hi Anne.... My fiance Warren has been on anti-rejection drugs for 3 years now....for his kidney transplant and has no major complications on them. Course the Prednisone is not the nicest medication to be on...but he puts up with it for the kidney. The 3 main drugs they use for anti-rejection are Neoral( Cyclosporine), Prograf ( what Warren is on, cause he can't take the Neoral) and the Prednisone. And usually if you get any kind of organ transplanted into you from another person , to prevent your own body from attacking the new organs you have to take these anti-rejection drugs. They will lower the immune system so that your body will accept these new organs or cells, but Warren wasn't any sicker with flus or colds this season than I was ! lol You just have to use good common sense and if you know someone is sick, don't go near them !! As far as you asking about having kids while on these drugs the answer to that is Yes you can have kids while on them. We have a good friend.....she's young, I think she's in her late 20's or early 30's now...but she had a heart transplant 7 years ago so she's on all the usual anti-rejection drugs, and her little girl is about 2 years old now : ) . Doctors were more worried about the strain the pregnancy would put on her heart, than anything else, but it turned out wonderful for all. And we know another woman that had 2 kids after she had her kidney transplant : ). ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Guest guest
Hi, Anne, You can have children, but you shouldn't breastfeed on an antirejection regimen--the drugs pass through the milk to your punkin pie! Can a woman have children while on these drugs? Go with God, Esther t2, diet, exercise, insulin, etc.
