Reminded me of a poem I wrote a long time ago. I'll post it and also say that it no longer reflects my feelings but it sure did at one time. I'LL LOVE YOU... I'll love you... if you'll give me sex if you'll make me feel like a man if you're a good girl(what does it take to be a "good" girl?) if you're quiet if you're not lazy if you stay out of my way if you do a good job(what does it take to do a "good" job?) if you work harder if you work longer if you don't complain if you're thin if you're smart if you're pretty if you do as you're told You should... do more work harder be different be someone else And... if I don't love you it's your fault. Guest guest
Dear Alice... Now about men and women and" Variations"??? Did i miss something somewhere? :-) The good thing about all this, you assume the best for all of us. But , well, I am not sure we each have the same idea of how to be "good" .I agree it's the trying too hard, for some of us, that wear us out and sometimes seems hopeless... We still haven't figured out that we are loved unconditionally by only one Source ( sorry, no human being can really carry this off even tho' we try to convince our kids of it) We do not have to worry about being "good enough" ( Einstein said this was a friendly Universe, and who wants to argue with genius?) If we work it right, much of this "being" is done for us, all we have to do is go along with it. I could never, never in a million years be "good" ( if I even ever am)if I had to do it all myself. I was born with an outsized ego and my efforts alone would never conquer it. On the other hand I do know where to go for help ( grace at work) so I do manage not to do too much damage along the way, I hope. None of us could actually "love our neighbors AS ourselves" if left to our own devices, however much we try to tell ourselves it is just a matter of "will". Religions have tried every which way to get around that, but in the end we really know we just can't do it .Let's just be honest about it. There is a way, even for people like me, though. So, if you are not feeling especially "good" around this time, and your self-image is tired out, I can only say, you were never meant to do it all alone. And intentions do count. We will all be One, maybe we are already and just don't realize it yet. I have been feeling a lot of pain here...around this fire,if my intuition is any good, and I for one know that some people are trying their hardest to send healing energy to as many as possible. I just wanted to remind all of us, there is a way to be as "good' as we can be and as Alice maybe even thinks we are. We don't have to work on it all that hard, we just have to know where to go for help and love. It is my sincere belief that all of us are meant for union with G-d (as we see him/her/it) It is possible and it does make us loving and "good" in gratitude...without having to strain very hard....( or sometimes surrender does sound terrifying, no? but it is lots better that "trying" forever.) Ok, so those of you who think I am crazy...that's OK too. But experience does count on this Jungian list, the old man thought so anyway, so don't take my word for it, try it, or keep at it, or don't, but I am so full of joy for having been led there, I can't help saying so. Some of you got there long before me, I know that, but if anyone is still thinking it over, this message is from one willful old woman to you. No, I don't think I have it made, or that my halo is shining. My point is that if it can work for me, hard case that I am/was,( I should know) it can work for everyone...but only with grace.Alone we will never get "there' Much love and G-d bless us all in this New Year. Toni Sorry if anyone thinks I am out of line, just forgive me, please. It was said with goodwill and love. From: IonaDove@... Jung felt very strongly that trying to be too good is bad for you! Put simply, if we are honest, most of us do try to be "good" but tend to deny our shadows [faults] n project them onto other people. As this is being done collectively all over the world, fights, wars, and each grp often claiming w/certainty that God is on their side. The enemy = axis of evil, etc. Perhaps if we truly simplify it, we balance on a tightrope using a long stick! Verbally the stick translates into AND rather than OR! Pers, mebbe I know that I am striving always to be a better person AND I know that I have faults that pop up unbidden. I struggle and I fail but I am aware that I am......and......and, etc. I see the Shadow or if not try to analyze what 'bugs' me ab someone else. Jung again making a distinction betw someone who honestly has a prob n wh that prob irritates u u unreasonably. We are all human: Christians AND Jews AND Muslims AND Pagans, etc; We are Democrats AND Repubs AND Independs, etc; Black AND white AND yellow etc. We are men AND women AND variations.
