SINCERELY, CINDI IN WI Cindi, there have been problems in the manufacturing of Methotrexate injectable. I don't know of anyone (except you) who has been able to get it lately. Guest guest
I am in Texas and no problems getting MTX injectable here either. Its the normal liquid with preservative. I talked to pharmacist on Friday...as my doc is contemplating starting MTX again. He claims its in short supply and he is only doing one month at a time. When I was on it I was getting three month supply at a time. Sad to say I have two bottles of it that expired and I will have to throw in the trash along with 13 weeks of enbrel that the mixing solution as also expired. I tried getting the enbrel mixing solution replaced but they wanted to send it to my old insurance plans mail order pharmacy which I don't deal with anymore....so it too will go into the trash. I am not going through changes to try to get a prescription out of my doc so they can send it to local pharmacy. Toni In a message dated 4/17/05 6:21:24 P.M. Guest guest
Cindi, and Pat and others... The reason I can't get MTX is because all the pharmacies, including the hospital, are under contract to purchase meds only from their supplier, and cannot go outside for meds. That's the reason we can't get it. It seems to me that the contract should have an escape clause in these circumstances. I posted the other day about it but guess no one saw it or paid attention to it. I don't know what will happen to me when I stop taking it, but I guess I'll find out the hard way. I just can't afford to pay $32-35 and drive 40 miles one way for only 3 weeks supply. Yesterday was my 61st birthday and I wanted my wife and I to go out for breakfast on the trike, something we haven't done for a couple of years, but couldn't leave the house, let alone get the trike out. I had 9 Clinoril tabs from last year that I was taken off of because of 'elevated' kidney something. I started taking them last night and was able to get up and around earlier than I have in a long time. I'm going to insist that my rheumy do something or I'll have to check with the VA for an option, like Ken is doing. There must be a better life in our bodies than sitting at home waiting for who-knows??? Guest guest
I was able to get it up until a few months ago, when others were complaining about not getting it. I miss the shots! Somewhere, maybe here I read something that hopefully we will get it again by June or July.
