Guest guest
Jen: I have never experience pain where you're having it, so I can't say that I know what you're going through. I do hope that you find a break from the pain and get plenty of rest between now and your Rheumy appointment. I am also new to all of this, and was just diagnosed mid- January of this year. This is a great place to vent.... -- In , " whysper " <whysper30@y...> wrote: > > > Hi everyone! > This is Jen in Fl and I am having a bit of a rough morning. > I woke up and I feel like my Sternum is going to crack. Guest guest
Hi Jen, I'm sorry you're feeling so much discomfort. I just wanted to tell you that I actually do have the same sternum trouble you're talking about sometimes. It's not often, but the exact same way you're describing. I think it's related to a flare, or that I've slept with my shoulders turned in toward each other and created tension there. When I try to relieve it by stretching my shoulders back, it hurts for sure. I have also had intense pain in my ribcage come quite suddenly, to the point that I cannot inhale or there is a stabbing pain, and I must breathe shallowly and wait it out. Long ago my rheumy told me that this is because the cartilage in the ribcage, like all of my cartilage, is affected by RA and it simply hurts. I agree it's quite scary having any pain near your chest, but I think that's the answer.
