Guest guest
I went back to the ortho today for a check of my foot. I still have to wear the camowalker for 1 or 2 more months I go back and see him in a month to see if it has healed yet I hope it will soon as I am tired of being in pain. He said he wants to make sure it is completely healed as my bones must be weak already since it fractured without me doing anything. Thanks Angie
Guest guest
Hi, a! Prednisone is what gave me my cateracts! Now I have to wait till they get " hard " enoughto have the operation toremove them! In the meantime, my vision has gotten so bad, my Lady won't even let me drive! (lucky thing) When she takes me to a store, I can't even read the " isle signs!! Love, squarehead ken a <a54@...> wrote: Angie, These fractures that come without doing anything is why I warn this group about the dangers of long term prednisone. Many people don't realize that taking steroids weakens the bones causing fractures. Although prednisone is a great pain reliever, unfortunately it comes with a big price tag. I hope you heal quickly. a On Apr 5, 2005, at 9:45 PM, along302003 wrote: > > I went back to the ortho today for a check of my foot. Guest guest
June, Most people that start taking steroids don't know that cataracts are a side effect. Most aren't told of any of the side effects even though they are so serious. Many here would never have started them had they known they wouldn't be able to quit taking them and that they could cause such serious problems. It's terrible to make people wait until they are almost blind! It's not like they will go away on their own. They will have to pay for it at some point, so why make patients be half blind until they decide it's time? a On Apr 8, 2005, at 9:51 AM, June Dixon wrote: > Last year I had both eyes done. I have been taking 5mg Prednisone every day for 5 years, just never associated it with the cataracts. My opthamologist told me he sees far more eye damage from prednisone than he ever does from Plaquenil. Nina
Guest guest
a, I was just fortunate to be sent to this surgeon since there are still a great number telling their patients they have to wait until their cataracts were ready. I had no idea that Prednisone could cause this problem. I am now taking 5mg one day and 2.5 mg next day in an effort to get off this med. Guest guest
June, I'm glad your cataracts were taken care of you you weren't put off. There are many ways to do a prednisone taper. What did your doctor say about it? You've been on prednisone for quite a while, so it may take a long time to completely wean off them. Good luck June. I know it is very painful to go through this while you wait for your adrenal glands to start producing your own steroids again. a On Apr 10, 2005, at 8:54 AM, June Dixon wrote: > a, I was just fortunate to be sent to this surgeon since there are > still a great number telling their patients they have to wait until > their cataracts were ready.
