Guest guest
Hannah, My mother was an RN, in the childrens' ward no less. Yet she abused uppers and downers while pregnant with me and my brothers (she had to have seen the results of that in her patients). To top that off, she was physically abusive to all of us, but I got it worst because I was the oldest. When I was little I thought all little girls got bloody noses from being " spanked " . I won't go into the rest of it, I'll just say she was a really bad role model as a mother. When I was about 7 I told her I would never treat my children the way she treated us, and she screamed at me that I'd be just like her. Well, maybe she WAS a good role model, because I did NOT do to my children what she did to us. cyn At 02:27 PM 10/18/2004 -0400, Hannah Pasisz wrote: My mother still can't face the fact that she DID damage me by doing drugs while pregnant. She hasn't spoken to me since she found out I had to have brain surgery for a birth defect... and the health complaints I have had since young child were all indicators of this defect. Kudos to any parent who can stop the selfish behavior patterns and embrace their children and help them. I wish mine could.... Guest guest
And that's the best way to look at it... they were good role models in that they showed us how NOT to be when we grew up. It is still just so weird to me. I am 31.. I still spent most of my life with a woman I will probably never speak to again.... Guest guest
That's the way I look at it. As soon as I had my first baby I moved 1000 miles away from my mother and haven't seen her since 1979. We email each other occasionally, but that's about it. My father passed away from a brain tumor in 1992, so I no longer have him to talk to. I was his little princess, his Cinderella (he actually wanted to put that name on my birth certificate, shudder!) and he spoiled me rotten. I didn't even realize that until I lost him :=( cyn At 10:30 AM 10/20/2004 -0400, Hannah Pasisz wrote: And that's the best way to look at it... they were good role models in that they showed us how NOT to be when we grew up.
