Amazed at insurance maze

Hi folks!

On Tuesday, I talked to a knowledgable woman at my rheumy's billing

office to find out how much I owe. I was told that I might not owe

anything and and that I might not have to switch rheumys after all--

it looked to her like something had gotten mixed up on their end.

I was encouraged, but it really seemed too risky to hope for a quick

resolution. Today I got the return call: " Your insurance company says

it has not received any referrals for you to see this doctor. " (Am I

in a friggin' Franz Kafka novel?!!) Three referrals have been made,

and I have copies of them in my possession. This kind woman asked me

to fax them to her so she can investigate further. Thank goodness she

didn't turn " the project " back over to me, because I have gotten

nowhere, despite multiple calls. The time I have put into it, and the

emotional upset have already outweighed the small savings I will gain

by having switched plans.
