Guest guest
My Rheumy is closed on friday so I can't ask him about this, but I need some knowledge. I only started taking this med on Wednesday, starting with one pill twice a day. I'm supposed to take that for one week, then go to two twice a day for a week, then three pills twice a day from there on. My question is, can this med make a significant difference after taking it for two days? I'm seeing a difference or coming off a flare, I don't know which. I'm not familiar with the drug, but here's some good info on it: http://ibscrohns.about.com/cs/sulfasalazine/a/azulfadinefaq.htm Nina
Guest guest
When I was on sulfasalazine I was very nauseous and my stomach hurt (it felt like I'd been kicked in the stomach) so my doctor took me off of it. I think if I didn't have the stomach pain he would not have taken me off of it. HTH, Lori http://users.adelphia.net/~tmihalko/Stitching/index.html [ ] sulfasalazine I dont post very often but 3 weeks ago I was given sulfazalazine as well as the methotrexate I am already on. I have been building it up to 3 per day. However today I feel ill and very nauseous. Has anyone any knowledge of this drug. I was given a leaflet with the meds but it doesnt say very much. Would appreciate any advice Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.
Guest guest
My sister has RA also (runs in the family!) and her doc gave her phenergan because all the disease modifiers give her nausea. It may sound weird but I take Dramamine or Bonine and it really helps me with the nausea;or Equate brand motion sickness tabs at Walmart, way cheaper. If it gets really bad I take phenergan, but that stuff just knocks my lights out! Sulfasalazine caused me to be so fatigued, I felt like a zombie! I was not able to work on it, so they d/c'd it. I'm currently on anti inflammatory, pred, and enbrel. I ain't doing cartwheels, but I make it to work just about every day. I am a HUGE fan of ginger tablets for yucky tummy, also peppermint tea with a bit of honey in it. Celestial Seasonings makes a good one. The ginger I recommend tabs vs. capsules since they seem to work faster. Hope something helps, nausea is the WORST. Guest guest
I didn't feel good on sulfasalazine, either. I went off it after 3 weeks. Guest guest
Dear , I came down with rheumatoid arthritis in Aug. 2006. I went to a rhemy and after much blood work had a rf of 115. I was then put on MTX for three weeks 3 pills a week. My disease progressed and then I was put on Sulfasalazine 2 500 pills a day Folic acid 1000 mg a day. After taking the sulfasalazine for 11 days my face blew up like I had the mumps. After three days I got an appointment with the Rhemy again and I was also taking Celebrex 200 mg 2 times a day at the Rhemy's advice. So he took me off everything and to come back in 3 weeks he will try a biological. I had some kind of a reaction to the sulfasalazine and Celebrex together. I was and still am constantly tired. I don't know if it is from the disease or pills. So that was my experience with Sulfasalazine. Let me know what you are going to try, Bunny
