Guest guest
I am new to the group but not new to RA. I was diagnosed 6 years ago when I was 26. It has been quite a road since then. I am currently on Remicade, plaquenil, methotrexate. I had been doing the best I had in years until about 4 months ago. I have been having severe shoulder pain and loss of range of motion for about the last four months. My Rheumy sent for for PT and an x- ray. The x-ray results led to an MRI. Severe joint narrowing and erosions and varies other things. So basically I have been referred to an othopedic surgeon and told that I need a total joint replacement. Is there anyone who has gone through this that may be able to tell me what to expect? I have had surgeries before--knee scoped twice and a major foot surgery (fusion). But never have I had a replacement. I have also heard that shoulder replacements are not as good as knees and hips. Can anyone share their experiences with me? Thanks! a
