Guest guest
I take antib prophylactically. Erythromycin 3x a week; Doxycyline 3x thefollowing week and then back to the Erythromycin and so on. Three days perweek for each, any 3 days. So I do Mon, Wed, Fri. Have only been on thisregimen a few weeks but I think it is helping. I also do postural drainage(hang over the side of the bed, arms too) breathe deeply and cough. Takesabout 20-30 minutes. I put a book on the floor and read to pass the time inbetween. At the beginning I simply could not believe the quantity of phlegmthat came up. Now, so not much. In terms of my cough, I still have thatand seem to have two "attacks" a day, mid morning and mid afternoon where Ihave to find a place a can just cough for a few minutes and spit some stuffout. As I work in an office and ride the subway, it makes for someembarrassing moments. Good morning Marsha Thanks for the reply. I used to be on, what my dr referred to as, maintenance meds..same as what you described above. If my memory serves me right, that year I had not one infection. But he's funny about prolonged use of anti's , so he stopped the treatment, and well..my infections returned with a fury. I just can't see me hanging my head over the bed and doing a drip lol. We talk about dif methods of ' pulmonary toileting " ..I prefer to call it pulomary ' cleansing '...toilet? well I just don't wanna go there lol . Hanging upside down would cause me to be dizzy..I'm sure, and I'm already dizzy enough..but you go..glad it's working for you..<g.> BTW..what's your primary lung dx?? Sandie Can't sleep?Try counting your blessings...
