The prob with wishing one was living in the 'good old days', seems to me, is that it is illogical. By wishing for the past or a diff future, one misses the NOW n NOW is all we have at any given moment.

There are 3 abysses that we generally fall into:

1] the deadly words "if only"..........

2} neg projection - ie. blaming.........

3} realizing the things that u have not done that u OUGHT to have done! [3 a.m. specialty]

I call them abysses bec there seems no limit to their potential in causing suffering to oneself n to others.

I think Jung was a realist in pointing out that each of us is stuck being WHO we ARE n that the solution is becoming more conscious of our ability to make the best of it which involves transforming some of our complexes n releasing their trapped positive energies - an alchemical process, if u will. Goethe wrote something like this:" We [spirits] can only help those who strive, so see the task, begin it!"

It sort of boils down to "Here I am warts n all."

There are two simple analogies: women who knit or embroider all know that the backside of the fabric is a holy mess! Men who wear patterned socks can see what they look like inside out! But mebbe on the other side it all makes sense.

The second one is a kaleidoscope. I keep one handy for clients. When u look at them frm the wrong end - nothing but colorful chaos - look thru the right end, beauty n order. The Grk word means - seeing the lovely.

While I'm at it, kosmos also means beauty n in these present days of fear n trembling, just remember to look up at the sky n realize that the solar system is running in order.

The Buddhists tell us that the masculine offers skillful means; the feminine, wisdom.

In terms of government, since 1/2 the human race has largely been left out, it is worth a try, I think, to give women a chance bec they are better at relating. The 3 prominent American women are all Scorpios: observe Condoleeza at work - she is feminine, chic, charming n has a mind like a cobra n is a brilliant pianist besides; Hillary conceals an incredible acumen; n is the best thing that ever happened to Bush, with Pisces rising she is genuinely empathetic and she can read and speak English! Fr a Jungian perspective, w/elections coming up etc. we can observe the animus operating in our political ladies n certainly the anima in the men.

My frnd Bly said that what we need is noble women and gentle men. And he didn't mean weak!

Well, here's a French 'if only' - Si jeunesse savait et agesse pouvait! If youth only knew and age only could!

Ain't that the truth!

Old Lady

w/love always n that we all can do!
