Guest guest
Milk is white. Milk has around 11 grams of carbs in an 8 ounce serving. Guest guest
doctor Atkins also says to stay away from bananas. this is easy for me, I don't like them my self. Atkins says they are high in sugar. he also says to stay away from water melon as well. the same thing, high in sugar. as far as what is white, the main thing to remember, stay away from any thing that uses white flour or breading of any kind. milk is bad, and of course I love butter milk and corn bread. no cereals of any kind, no crackers ever. any thing pre packaged is also bad for you if you are on the white diet. if you can open it and eat it, it isn't usually good for you. the Atkins diet is mostly meat. like fish, beef and chicken. these meats have no carbs. he says to go easy on pork how ever. he also says you can have real butter, not the fake stuff. I believe that rye bread is low in carbs. Atkins says, if you eat a baked potatoes, it turns to sugar once it is digested. he says it isn't any different then eating the same amount of sugar. he also says, that whole wheat is just as bad as white bread. I ordered a Braille carb counter from some where for five dollars. as soon as I find the addy I will send it to the list. it is really a good book to have, cause it tells you how much carbs and fiber are in different foods. you that read Braille, should get one. it is in two books. not a bad deal for five dollars. I have read a lot of books on diabetes in the last two years and the most of them all agree on one important thing to do. they all agreed that exercise was most important for bringing your blood sugar down and keeping it under control. in fact, most of the books said, if you must only do one thing, exercise was more important then your diet. how ever, diet and exercise is the best to do. staying away from those foods that are a no no, is getting easier, but making my self exercise daily, is some thing I still have to make my self do on a regular schedule. but when I do ride my bike, I feel so much better. but I guess most of us are going to fight what ever is good for us. Guest guest
anything that ends with ose is sugar. I.E lactose, milk, etc. so milk, fruit, fruit juices, etc. it is any food that is quick acting carbs you have to avoid, not just white foods. Yes, white foods is a good starting point but really, it is quick acting carbs that you should avoid. Could be crackers, pasta, candy bars, or something as simple as a cup of yogurt. I tell folks to not eat any food that is greater than 10 grams of carbs per serving. Regards, What is considered " white " ? and listers, With regard to the thread about the white diet, just exactly what's considered " white?, how do you tell what is and isn't? There are some obvious ones, like bread, sugar, rice, pasta, et al, what else?
