Having a baby with RA

I was married in 1976, diagnosed in 1978 and gave birth to my dd in

1984 at the young age of 42! Do I regret--not a chance. I was on

naproxyn (aleve) at the time of my first pregnancy and was told to go

off immediately. I miscarried early but the pain did not return. I

got pg again in 6 months and missed again. The pain came

occasionally but a few tylonel usually worked for me. Back then,

NSAIDS were really the first line drugs. About 6 months later, pg

again, pain free for all 9 months, had a beautiful 8lb 8oz girl by C-

section (she was a double breech & my OB was taking no chances).

Unfortunately, the RA flared about 2 months later and did not go into

what I call " partial " remission until I started Embrel in the

late '90s.

I initially had problems getting pg but a change in thyroid meds

found me pg after one week!

I also was on extra strong vits, cod liver oil (omega's weren't

really in then), 5000 mg vit C, heavy extra strength biofavinoids &

rutin. I strongly believe these were responsible for my being pain

free prior to my pregnancies. I'm only now considering going back to

these & adding vit D3, you all know how easy it is to put off taking

more pills than are absolutely necessary.

So, although I was older when I finally had my , I faced many of

the same problems you will. If anyone wants to talk further by

phone, (it takes forever to type with one finger), email me & I'll be

happy to give you my number or if you'd rather, I can call you.

warmly,

Lori
