For the last 4 days, I've been hurting worse than I can remember, and it's

all over. Maybe some of the reason is the low pressure that's been slowly

moving out of New Mexico. I wish it hurries along, I have life to live. Has

anyone else had this problem, or am I just lucky?

Yes Dennis,

I have had the same problem and have hurt a lot.

We have had a cool front to come in. There was

some snow about 20 miles away and some rain

here at home............Joyce near Dallas

Saturday and Sunday were very painful for me, today I am in a little pain, but

definitely can tell the difference!! The cold front moved through and it is

supposed to be in the mid 70's today. THANK GOD!!

It would be interesting to chronicle the movement of storms across the nation

based on our pain levels!! You had pain about a day or so ahead of me, and

those on the East coast are going to feel it today while we are recovering..

Interesting!

Dennis,

Skeptics argue that there is no connection between weather changes and

increased joint pain, but a study done on osteoarthritis sufferers

proved otherwise.

It is believed by these skeptics that it is our psychological state

that affects our perception of joint pain. Cold and rainy days keep us

indoors and we are grumpy and focus more on our pain. We don't get

outside in the cold rainy weather, so we don't get enough exercise. We

lay around and get stiff. The study done shows that a drop in

atmospheric pressure does indeed increase pain in arthritics, so we can

finally say it really isn't just in our head. I didn't know how much

weather affected me until I moved from NJ to Florida. Now of course

the skeptics would say that since I'm swimming every day, it is

lifestyle changes that make me feel better, and I'm sure that is part

of it. But I can feel more pain when storms are approaching, so I am

still a weather barometer!

I hope the weather gets nicer for you and you feel better soon.

When I was a young adult, I had Bursitis in my shoulders. It was so bad at

times that I couldn't brush my teeth. I had to use one hand to raise the

other and shake my head back and forth, but it worked. Back then, I could

tell the weather 3 days in advance. One time when I was in Labrador, two

sales and service VP's were to leave the next afternoon by plane (since that

was the only way in or out). I told them they weren't going anywhere because

of the snow that's coming. They didn't believe me, but didn't go anywhere

for a couple of days.

A few years ago, I told my Rheumy that I was going to keep record of my

condition as it applied to weather changes. I suspected it would change

according to Barometric changes. There was no correlation for the 6 months I

kept records, so we had no paper to publish. I think weather and pain go

together somehow, but I can't figure it out.

HI Dennis,

I think you sent your lousy low pressure here to Indiana! We've had

nearly 2 inches of rain since yesterday and I'm aching big time too! I

don't have RA, I have Dercum's Disease and FM, but the weather affects

us the same way it does you. Today besides being at the computer, I'm

spending most of the day reading and listening to the stereo.

Yesterday's antics watching our grandchildren with the Easter stuff

wore me out (they are 2-year old triplets and a 5-year old.)

Hang in there, warm weather should be headed your way soon,

Judi

Judi,

I'll bet those antics were worth every bit of pain!
