I usually lurk here, but since I work in the medical field, and have had a few dealings with Mayo, I do have a suggestion. I know if you go to Mayo on your own, you have to wait for a cancellation to see a specialist of almost any kind. If however, you can get a referral from your own physician, they usually will take in patients in that case. I work for the SMDC health system that runs out of Duluth, and I know they refer patients to Mayo. I see a rheumy from Duluth, Dr Fernandez, and she is part of SMDC. I work in a small clinic in Virginia, MN, and even though we are part of SMDC, I couldn't even get into see her without a referral. Have you tried that method yet, or does that still require the waiting list? I've not pursued this beyond the two attempts. I did have a 2nd opinion appointment done so have seen 2 different doctors.
