Guest guest
Dennis, I can understand what you went through!! My boss thinks that because there are no outward deformaties and " arthritis is arthritis " that there is nothing wrong with me and I should just get over it!! And she's a nurse!! I told her that I count myself fortunate to not have any deformaties, though I do have joint changes. She wont let me use my crutch when i need to or even a cane. She is just an idiot. I actually had a resident doctor come in and give the department an inservice on RA. She didn't give me any trouble after that!! Why do people have to be SOOOO ignorant to what they don't know or understand? <sigh>....Marina

Guest guest
One thing you have going for you now is the ADA. When I had my trouble with the company in 1990, the ADA instructions said, " if you have contracts with the federal government and have more than 25 employees, you MUST accomodate that employee and spend up to $2500, if you want to. " ! Today, that's a moot point because of the history and past record of RA patients. Back then the 'handicap' tag was questionable for RA sufferers, but not now. It would be nice to roll time back and carry the new laws with us. " ) They really messed up when I finally put in a claim for disability payments on my little truck. I had been making payments after being laid off before I remembered that insurance. The insurance company sent me the forms to complete and I took them to Human Relations (an oxymoron) to have them filled out. The lady I talked to was going to pull my file but I was in a hurry and told her the info. She signed the forms and I sent them in. The next time, 3 months later, the man that I had delt with said I had no disability at all. The insurance company rep fixed his wagon, so I was told, and I never heard from any of them after that.
