Guest guest
Kim: When I was diagnosed, a little over 2 years ago my CDE suggested that I test every morning when I get up and following my biggest meal. For me that is supper so I test when I get up and brush my teeth and two hours after dinner. At first, I was testing two hours after finishing dinner but found that it was better to test 2 hours after STARTING the meal instead. I average my readings every month and divide the number by 18 and come up very close to my HbA1c readings. I have been doing an HbA1c since diagnoses every 3 months but will be doing it every 6 months now. At diagnosis HbA1c was over 10 and has been no higher than 5.3 since. People that take insulin have to test before meals to know how much insulin to take and people also test when they think that their bs is low or high but for me twice a day has worked fine. When I do get a high reading after dinner, I test again in and hour to see if it is going down and I also log all of my readings and make notes if I get a high or low reading. Since diagnosis I have been eating healthier than ever in my life and really feel much healthier than before. I walk every day at least a couple of miles and park as far away from work in the parking lot so I have to walk to and from work. I have also been retired for two years and working 4 hours per day but will be starting to work full time on April 16. Have a nice weekend. I spent much of this morning cooking for our families Passover Celebration which will be celebrated Sat and Sun evenings. About 35 people each night for a full meal. Guest guest
Aubrey, Happy belated birthday. I was out of town for a couple of days. " Ah, yes, it would be nice to be 30 again,... " . Mine haven't been a walk in the park buster (I am now 32). Just kidding - I just say that about my early 20's now. Working in the yard? I hope to avoid that part of the regimen when I get my tx. Never liked it in the first place!! Darin Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. I had a great day. Very relaxing after super busy Saturday getting the yard and house ready for winter. Saturday was a warm and sunny day, great for working in the yard. Yesterday was cooler and rainy, perfect for relaxing indoors. Ah, yes, it would be nice to be 30 again, but those days are long gone. Guest guest
Thank you to everyone who responded to my request for private e-mails. It seems that the problem is at another person's end rather than mine, but it could well be that we both need to do something. Basically, I can receive e-mails from him but anything with an attachment is not coming through - as he is an important work mentor, we need to sort this!! - but thank you all once again for helping to eliminate possible problems my end. Just as a final check, I received replies from rgl; Mike; Betty; Sam and Deb. If you sent me an e-mail and your name does not appear here, could you please give me a heads-up on list? Thank you for your indulgence - now back to our regular scheduled Jung!! Are you all aware that the Red Book has finally been launched in the US, and is due in the UK in November? love to all fa
Guest guest
Dear fa, just for your info and for others who may have similar problems. Some of the latest email clients such as Mozilla Thunderbird send forwarded emails as executable .eml files. Many ISP's now strip or reflect all emails with such executable attachments. Usually this is sent back to the originator with a message, but not always. Unfortunately this means that programs such as Microsoft Outlook Express, which are seriously vulnerable to virus and malware, are often the only programs which can send mail without it being disrupted by the ISP virus guardians. I cannot forward emails to my ISP based mail address for eg, as it refuses to accept them from my Mozilla based email client. I can however send and recieve such emails and attachments via ms outlook express. In regard to simple file attachments, the problem usually occurs at the recieving end - where the email client has been set to disregard or trash all email files with attachments. Sometimes the ISP can be set up to do this via the email settings on their web site. Such auto filters may even be the default condition with some new accounts or with changes to the ISP security services. In this regard one needs to contact the ISP or if available, go to their web mail settings page for your account and check the settings for spam and attachment filtering. rgh

Guest guest
That's interesting, Mike. It's still preorder with Amazon. Not really surprised at the price of $94 taking into considerate both the professional nature (not leading to mass sales) and the cost of reproducing illustrations. I'll hope to see it at the University library. Thanks for telling us. Re: Thanks! Guest guest
Hi fa,Thanks for this news about the Red Book's publication. My copy is on order thanks to you. I had some email correspondence with Sonu Shamdasani, the author, yesterday. I have been trying to get him to come here it Kansas City, pending the books release in the US. He will be in NY, but unable to come here anytime soon, but suggested I might be interested in attending a pre-release seminar on the RB in London this summer, August 17-20. See for location:http://www.clivedenhouse.co.uk/default.asp?Page=history Perhaps you would like to attend, being located there. I will not be able to travel there myself. It is not inexpensive. Let me know if you are interested and I'll pass along the details to you. Should be a fascinating opportunity. This book is likely the biggest "Jungian" event in several decades. Sonu, as you may know, consulted Alice during the writing of the book, especially on Jung's aparent interest in astrology. Guest guest
Hi Greg, I’m glad you ordered the book, and would be very grateful for the seminar details. I have attended Sonu’s seminars before and they are always great value – and yes, I was aware of the Alice connection.
