Guest guest
Hi, Hope this finds everyone doing well. First off I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who got me on the road to finding out about the connection between Agent Orange and Spina Bifida. I think I have a good chance of benefiting from this not only that just knowing why I have what I have is also a little im not sure if the word I want to is comforting but something along those lines. But I have a couple of fears, I have Spina Bifida Occulta as you know it states that it is not covered, but I do have Arnold Chiari Malformation Type 2, Tethered Spinal Cord, and was born with dislocated elbows, now I remember someone saying( I accidently emptied my inbox before moving all those posts so I cant remember who said it) that Occulta was still considered for these benefits. Can anyone clarify any of this for me because I am afraid that this will disqualify my because mine is Occulta even though I have these other defects which are listed on the VA website. Any help would really be appreciated. Thank you sooo much. Guest guest
Hi First, congrats on being able to apply for these benefits. I was born eight months too late - I have all the other criteria there, but not the birth date. As I understand these benefits (looking at the application), it states that Occulta alone does not qualify, but other forms of Spina Bifida do. (Which would include the tether), and I swear I remember seeing Chiari on their website (the VA site that contains the criteria...it stated something about hydrocephalus, but I think it was in relation to that Chiari can cause it.) Good luck ... Kathy Question Hi, Hope this finds everyone doing well. Guest guest
Any disability, even minor ones (cleft lip, lazy eye, even red hair for God's sake) can cause behavioral problems. I grew up walking with crutches due to SBO. I have a brother who physically was fine. Guess who is more messed up now. My brother. He has severe problems with behavior and drugs and alcohol. I was the one who had to endure all the surgies and ridicule from kids at school. I was also the one whom our " father " treated like a moron. I was the one who did wet their pants until I was in my teens and had to wear diapers to bed (that made sleepovers a lot of fun!) Yet, I am also the one who ended up growing up a lot faster, mentally. So, while it may be hard now, just make sure whatever the issue is, get your child the help they need (physical and mental) and they should turn out just fine. > > > I was just wondering, can a tethered cord cause > > behaviorial problems? > > > > Faith > > > > > > > > > ______________________________________________________________________ ______________ > Have a burning question? > Go to www.Answers.yahoo.com and get answers from real people who know. >
