Guest guest
Hi a, I had both replaced about 7-8 years ago. It's true, pain goes away but function can be limited depending on the state of rotator cuffs. Mine were almost gone when I had them done. Rehab is VERY important. Unfortunately, in my case I cannot raise my hands much higher than shoulder level, have to use a variety of aids to wash & do my hair because I can't get my hands up to my hair. I understand some ortho's are now working on replacements for rotator cuffs. I'd suggest you talk with the surgeon. Be sure his specialty is shoulder replacements and see what he thinks about your rotator cuffs. Hopefully yours will be much better than mine. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Warmly, Lori > > > I am new to the group but not new to RA. I was diagnosed 6 years > ago when I was 26. It has been quite a road since then. I am > currently on Remicade, plaquenil, methotrexate. Guest guest
a, We've had several members with shoulder replacements, and I was hoping one of them would share experiences with you. Hopefully they will see your email and respond. I've only had my knees replaced, and it was the best thing I've ever done. I had injections of steroids in my knees which allowed my to hold off on getting the replacements. Have you tried an injection? It may give you a lot of relief.
