Apparently you are looking for more than why we have prior authorizations and a name for it. If what you want is a cure, try this one. 1. Give the patient the prior authorization phone number and tell them to call (while still in your office)2. Tell patient to notify your receptionist or you when they reach the designated provider abraiser.3. When patient become sufficiently annoyed, remind that it’s their insurance not yours.4. To calm patient, suggest they write to their insurance company about why they are annoyed. Let’s see, You have a name for the disease: provider abrasionYou know what causes it: Misapplication of the real Golden RuleYou have a way to treat it: Give the monkey back to the patient From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of pricklyfinger2007Sent: Friday, June 08, 2012 2:46 PMTo: Subject: prior authorization warning: this is a rantwhy do we have to prior authorize anything we do.what is the whole point?and why are we supposed to do it.anyone who has a feasible acceptable understandable reasonwill get $20 from me.grace

nancy...

you win the $20 and a bag of popcorn.

but i still cannot get my MRI done and i need extra GeNERIC excita-lopram...

i need your address... i was serious about the $20

it doesnt resolve the issue that it is the patient and the doc that is caught in

between..

is there something we can do about these insurance companies and why oh why is

government not willing to see this.... and that this is the problem?

due to be looked into by media...... psssstt.... media people out there do you

need a crisp $20?

Grace,I like the idea of having patient call and I've done that before.

Just saying, healthcare in US is in process of change and it will be painful.  It is up to each of us to decide how we can speed the process along (for me, not being unpaid help for profitable insurance companies was a good decision), take good care of our patients, and maintain our own sanity and peace of mind so we can be useful healers.

I admire anyone who is trying.

We don't have to be victims.

, the $20  payment will have to be pre-authorized.  Please submit the proper paper work in triplicate....

Because they say so.  It’s the Golden Rule.  They have the Gold.

I’ll take the 20 now.
