Guest guest
they tried about 6 or 7 different types of sleeping pills for me. ambien is the only thing that seemed to work. but where most people take 5 or 10 mg, i was prescribed 20 mg and some nights it worked and some nights it didn't. i got to the point where sometimes i was up for 2 or 3 straight days with no sleep. now that my steroid dosage is being lowered, i find i am sleep 5-6 hours a night verses the 2-3 i was sleeping. but i still have off nights were i don't sleep at all. thank goodness i am a bookaholic. lol i love to read so i read alot on my sleepless nights. Guest guest
, I'm a true believer of Ambien. I don't take it all the time - although I did when I was on prednisone. But if I'm still awake at 12:30am, I take 5 mgs and sleep like a baby till 6:30am. It's wonderful. I would probably be just like without it. I get nights where sleep just doesn't want to come even tho I'm tired. Leanne uip 1/03 wrote: I am having trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep. Is there any safe medication to help? Guest guest
Hi , I have been on Ambian for years( 8or9). They keep saying " it's additive " ...my response is SO at least most night I get 5 or 6 hours. So they don't have trouble giving it to me now. Ask your Dr. about it. I thought your were on O2 at home too..huh. Well if you need it at rehab, you need it with activity at home too. See about doing the 6 min. walk test. That pretty much tells the story. God Bless. Guest guest
, I have used Ambien for years. I am surprised they still let me use it considering how they will not let me take cough meds or anything like Xanax. It puts me to sleep....and would keep me asleep if I were not hanging off the bed coughing my lungs out 50 times a night! There is a new one that is time release and will keep you asleep better. I take 10mg and the time release is 12.5. I never have hangover from it or any side effects. One question: If you require 02 while walking on a treadmill, why do you not require it for walking through the mall or vacumming, etc.... Don't you feel sob at other times? Nice to see you posting. Guest guest
Peggy, RE: They keep saying "it's additive"... I say "who cares" if I am 'addicted' 20 years from now, I'll go for treatment! I tried giving it up once and it was not good...At least it allows me some sleep. Hugs, Joyce PF 1997 Bronchiectasis 2004 >> Hi , I have been on Ambian for years( 8or9). Guest guest
from Sher, I have a sleep disorder as well as sleep-apnea. Even Ambien can't be taken forever... I take a supplement called Tranquility Complex from Quantum-Rx. I buy it through Healthline in Round Rock, TX. 1- x 2595 (Andy). Tell him Sher Bauman recommended and I think I get a discount. It works WONDERFULLY WELL. None addictive. I've been taking 2 each night and sleep well. It's spendy...about 25$ for 60 caps but it's worth the cost to me. Look into this. I recommend it. Guest guest
Gordon, This is one of the very first things my pulmonary doc did. Are you active? Have they put you on oxygen yet? You don't complain nearly enough! Hugs, Joyce PF 1997 Bronchiectasis 2004 > >> > I am having trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep. Is there any safe medication to help? Guest guest
Ambien is a good drug but you can become dependent (not addicted) on it, so that if you stop taking it you have difficulty sleeping on your own. An old drug that was once used for depression and now often used from insomnia is Trazadone and the side affects are minor. You dont become dependent on it and it doesnt cause you to have that morning drowsy feeling. Carolyn -- Re: Sleep , I'm a true believer of Ambien. Guest guest
I breast fed too! All four. Two out of my four would breast feed all night long too! So what I did was breast feed, and then give 2ounces of formula after wards to top it off. Then they would sleep four hours straight! And that was heaven for me.  ________________________________ To: MosaicDS Sent: Fri, April 1, 2011 3:54:24 PM Subject: sleep  Aidan will be 1 next month 5/14. He's breastfed and loves solid food as well. He doesn't sleep well he wakes at least 4 times and wants to nurse every time! Any thoughts suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
