Guest guest
Hi, everyone I need to make a descision on putting a port in for Remicade treatments due to my veins collaping when they put the IV in. The only other option for me is Kineret. Daily painful injections are not something I want to do. Already failed on Enbrel 50mg weekly and Humira. The most mtx my body will handle is 10 mg weekly. Also on 5 mg Prednisone. Is anyone in the same boat? Anyone have any thoughts. Does anyone is here have a port or on Kineret? My Cardio thinks the years of Prednisone destroyed my veins, who knows. Please help me with this decision. Peace,
Guest guest
, That is some decision you have to make. I did Remicade for a while. I was to the point of needing a port, as well. My veins were less than cooperative in the matter. I decided to give Kineret a try. It is very painful to injiect. The only thing I got from it was a major raised rashy area with each injection. The rash got worse with each injection as well. I never benefited from the Kineret. I was getting worse. Finally, my doc decided to try Enbrel. So far, it has been effective, but it is also starting to fail me. Now, we are considering doing Remicade again. If I do go that route, I am going to see a general surgeon about putting in an infusaport. This port is surgically placed under the skin on either your right or left chest wall (left if you're right handed and right if you're left handed typically). There is a risk of infection with the port, but it is dramatically less with this paticular port because it is entirally under the skin. THere is a special needle used to access it for infusions and or flushing. It needs flushed at least once a month to prevent it from getting clotted off. It can also be accessed for blood draws as well. I hope this helps with your decision...Marina --- In , " " <cyninflorida@y...> wrote: > > Hi, everyone > > I need to make a descision on putting a port in for Remicade > treatments due to my veins collaping when they put the IV in.
