Guest guest
, Splenda is available online. It will be in stores next year. It's not in stores now because their manufacturing facilities can't meet the US need, and they're building another plant. http://www.splenda.com Sugar substitute? Hi, I have a question about sugar subs. I know that the aspartame in Equal and Swiit N Low are " dangerous " , not to mention that they upset my stomach. Then, there was Stevis. I tried Stevia and it was actually very good (Stevia is the natural herb). But I heard that Stevia is bad for us by some other diabetics. Someone told me that there was a new sugar sub coming out that is totally safe, no carbs, cals, aspartame, etc. Does anyone know where I can get this or if or when it will be out? I would appreciate it, Aroma Verde http://www.essentialsol.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Public website for Diabetes International: http://www.msteri.com/diabetes-info/diabetes_int

For the vast majority of us, aspartame appears to be quite safe. << I tried Stevia and it was actually very good ... It is wildly overpriced! << Someone told me that there was a new sugar sub coming out that is totally safe, no carbs, cals, aspartame, etc. >> Splenda. Of course, we won't know for some years whether it is totally safe for everyone. But so far, so good. It is on the shelves in Canada already, and legal in the U.S. But the problem thus far is that products containing Splenda cost about three times what they would cost if they contained NutraSweet, because the product is not yet widely-available. It was just recently legalized. I will stress this one more time ... If you want to have great diabetes control, work on eliminating " sweets " from your diet! Just wean yourself from the taste of " sweet " ! Good control does not involve finding the " best sweetener. " Our culture has been contaminated by commercial food vendors who are seducing us with sweets. Break the habit, if you want good health! Do you actually believe our cavemen ancestors ate everything all glopped up with sweeteners? Our bodies have evolved over thousands of years. Hi Susie, Amen, This falls in the category of " lifestyle changes " that I didn't really understand after first being diagnosed. It's not just a matter of " getting by " but " being happy " ... and mourning the passing of sweets isn't a good way to get on with life. Now that I reread this I see I am actually reiterating your logic. They'll eat sh*t but not sweets. LOL!

I get somewhat hysterical on this subject, but after so many years of participating in onling groups, it does make me a little nuts that we get these requests, day after day, for a " better sweetener. " The longer I do this, the more I picture our ancient ancestors, surviving for thousands of years. And the only " sweets " they would have ever eaten would have been the occasional tiny berry (nothing like our plumped-up modern versions!), and an occasional raid on a beehive. If you have never spoiled your dog by feeding it sweets, try it some time. They look at you like you're nuts! Their look says, " I'm not eating this crap! " We should follow suit. Our German Shepherd took a piece of pumpernickel bread out of the toaster the other day. Yesterday she decided to wash it down with 1/2 lb of bacon (raw) that my wife had taken out to cook. It was gone in a heartbeat. Were they made of cabbage, or was it lettuce? To nonsmokers cigarettes all smell like burning rope anyway. When someone lights up, it runs me out of the room in a hurry.
