: I am new to this website.. diagnosed 10/06 IPF..I read ALL the messages and am with all of you in my spirit. There are things I don't understand in some of the letters. Please tell me what lol means? I am 68 yrs old and behind the learning curve on IMs and all the abbreviations. This computer and website are a life saver for me. My husband (of 5 years) has already buried 3 wives and simply will not accept that I have a "life limiting" illness. He tells me not to think about it. YEA, right. God help me girl, you make me laugh in spite of myself... "and i said i don't give a shit if i got the mother of all shots......stay clear of me or i'm getting a gun. lol" I second that idea!! Flu shot or not you're still suceptible to infection...my flu shot didn't stop me from getting this freakin bronchitis!

I'll pray for Nick, that it's something simple and treatable with another course of antibiotics. You must be worried, I know how I would feel.

I heard from my doctor's office today, good news, no pneumonia, bad news, some atelectasis on the right side. That's the noise I hear on my right side when I cough. Dr. M is going to call me himself tomorrow to talk about it. Not sure what, if anything, he'll want to do... probably just check it again as the bronchitis clears and hope it resolves or at least minimizes. Did I mention how much I hate this disease??? Beth (Fibrotic NSIP 06/06)Draw close. Hold hands. Life is short. God is good.

Winter is just beginning! Those little sweeties of yours are just little sponges for germs. Be very, very careful. I know it is especially hard not to hug that sweet sick boy. I pray that the x rays are clear and that he will be o.k. Poor little boy!

Be nice to Churck. Poooooor guy!

Maybe you could get yourself a bubble suit. I have considered it! My troops are all having some horrid stomach flu. My husband had it at the end of the week. Then my daughter and one of her kids. They are here all the time....4 doors away. Aaaargh. I just wash and wash my hands and use lots of clorox wipes!

Let me know about Nick.

All these computer abbreviations boggle the mind of us old folks...ha. ha. My grandaughter writes e-mails, uses no vowels, mispells and abbreviations. I have to really spend time trying to decipher what she is telling me. She is almost 13, so I try to pay attention.

The only abbreviations I can remember as a teenager is: If a girl did too much XOXOXO it could lead to PG. We were not allowed to say the word pregnant. When I was 17 and already a wife, I found out fast the real meaning of PG. Aaaaargh! A mama at 18. Wish someone had informed me about BC!

the channelview area off of I-10 and the beltway.

oh my sleep comes and it goes. some nights are better than others. sad

part is that it is not my breathing or lack there of that keeps me

awake....it's the dang meds.

plus i'm a mover and a shaker what can i say. lol my mind moves more

than anything, sometimes hard to put it on pause.

your grand daughter sounds like ashli, only ashli writes that way

too.

speaking of her, she is grounded to sitting on her bed for the

entire weekend with no tv, toys, or stereo. the only thing she is

allowed to do is read and do spelling words since she seems to think

she doesn't have to do the work given to her at school these days!

that child has never had anything below a C since starting school

and brings me home an F in language arts because she has a whole

crapload of incompletes.

i have already pulled her out of softball and dancing. told her she

would have to earn those priveleges back. then we are in wal-mart

and she saw something she wanted and was begging for it and i gave

her this " are you nuts? " look. she's going to have to learn one way

or the other....i can't beat her into the real world.

although my grandmother would have lol we had an old pebbled

sidewalk at my grandmother's house where i grew up. when we were too

bad she would put us on our knees on it so all our friends could see

us when they went by. humiliation does wonder for the soul....sure

saves your backside too. lol

She would be in jail if she tried that now...for child abuse! I always say that if things were the same now as when I was raised or even when I I raised my kids....some of us would be on death row. This 'time out' stuff drives me nuts!!! My little three year old twin grandbabies spend half thier day in 'time out'....???

LOL nightmares with kids. LOL when mine were small they got a swat on the backside for misbehaving or whatever and problem solved.. Boy have things changed. adopted two teenagers a few years back and they really had to show themselves after a few months for punishment she would make them sit in the middle of the bed until she got up stairs to them.

They hated that so bad, having to think about it. I just can't stand the time out thing either.

Send to their room OH YEAH, today there rooms are like an arcade. lol Glad I'm done with all that..oh well, I'm blabbing.

time out my foot!

even nicholas when he is being overly bad........

i make them sit in the middle of their beds with no tv, no stereo,

no video games, no toys, i give them a book a pencil and a notebook.

constructive punishment. i told ashli she will get up when everyone

else gets up, she will get dressed, comb her hair, brush her teeth

and sit in the middle of her bed. the only time she will be allowed

to leave that room all weekend is for meals, the potty and when we

go to take family photos on saturday. other than that she is going

to sit in there and stare at the 4 walls, read a book or write

definitions and spelling words. those are her only option........and

unlike gramma and daddy, i don't bend and break as easily as they

do. if i have to punish them, they are going to get something from

it one way or the other.
