Guest guest
Hi , I'm glad your here, and hope you find the group helpful. That is good that your feeling good on your meds, what are you taking? Sorry that your feeling down sometimes. I think we can all relate to that at times. With a chronic illness, sometimes depression can set in before you know it. Have you talked to your doctor about this. If it happens only once in awhile, maybe try to get into an activity that you enjoy. If the meds is making your RA feel better, then I would do so some things you haven't been able to. The wonderful spring time is almost here, that will make you feel better too. Some people sometimes goes on a anti-depressant for depression. I would talk to my doctor about it, and see what they offer. Guest guest
Depression is a normal response to being diagnosed with a chronic illness, to having medical problems, and to pain. So, tell your husband to relax...he's at the bottom of the list of reasons you could be depressed right now. dianaenxing <dianaenxing@...> wrote: I was just officially diagnosed with RA a week ago and, although I feel wonderful with the meds he's put me on, I can't help to feel a little like I'm in a funk every once in a while. I get sullen and nothing makes me happy and I might even cry. It usually doesn't last long, but my husband worries that it's him even though I assure him it's not. In spite of all this, I haven't felt this good physically in months. I notice I'm even happier and have more energy. My friends at work have noticed a whole new person. However, I still feel blue every once in a while. Is this normal for RA or do I need to just get over my blues?!

Guest guest
Hi: Welcome to the group. Yes, getting the blues is very common with chronic pain, and RA is a very frustrating disease to deal with too. It takes a while to find the right medications, but it seems like maybe you have found the right ones - glad you are feeling better. Some of the medications can cause different emotional responses too as side effect, most commonly Prednisone can do this. What meds are you on? Also, because of not knowing what the future might bring RA-wise, and grieving the loss of things that you might have planned to do, or were doing, and can no longer do because of the RA, is certainly cause for feeling down at times. If the funk lasts a long time, though, and seems to be getting to the point that you are not able to function because of it, please do speak with your doctor. I finally had to do that, and have been on Effexor now for about 2 years, and it has really helped me to cope with the RA and the stress it can cause. Guest guest
Welcome to our group. Sorry about your diagnosis, but glad the meds are helping. You are very lucky to get relief so quickly. I get the blues too. I think most of us do. It 's normal when you have a chronic and painful disease. If you think it's happening to often, please talk to your doctor about it. a On Sat, 05 Mar 2005 14:45:14 -0000, dianaenxing <dianaenxing@...> wrote: > > > I was just officially diagnosed with RA a week ago and, although I > feel wonderful with the meds he's put me on, I can't help to feel a > little like I'm in a funk every once in a while.
